Life was looking up for me not long ago. Now, it’s looking all the way down. This latest shitstorm? Yeah, it takes the cake and the beetroot tickle.
The father who shunned me from birth lays cold and dead. The courts are in turmoil and after blood. My blood. I need to find his killer, yet that mystery pales in comparison to the madness crushing fae in its giant grip.
I’m desperate to find the door to Underhill before true anarchy descends. The answers I seek are on the other side, I’m sure of it.
With two gifted swords, a magic shield, some finnicky power, and dubious spirit for company, I must locate the path to our native realm again. And if I can manage that while resisting the Unseelie fae stalking my every footstep, then all the better.
But I am part human after all.
If you can’t get enough of Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black or Elise Kova, you will love this journey into the fae world where impossible love and an explosive story will leave you breathless for more!

✒by Shannon Mayer & Kelly St. Clare
NA, 🌶5/10, profanity, violence
There's a difference between a hook & a cliffhanger. I know this. But damn if it doesn't feel like a cliffhanger! Wow! So.much.information!
This book was action from page 1 & continues until page 342! Of the many theories I had going into this, it took about 16% into the book to figure one out, & the spectacular way it was finally confirmed caused my ineffectual words at the end. Speechless.
This absolute tapestry of a world, from modern Alaska to the Fae island, to Underhill itself... amazing and rich and complex!
Love it!
As for Faolan and Kallik, they being a Seelie and an Unseelie, forever doomed to never be together, due to one dying if they give in to their magnetism... it was bittersweet, because they are connected on such a deep level. However, I seriously enjoyed the push and pull, the snark and humor, the flirting, the NEED they have for each other in the middle of their fae world going mad; it's intense. Not quite enemies to lovers, but has that feel.
As always, our badass heroine Kallik, with her humor, snark, and loyalty to FRamily, those who you MAKE your family, make me love her so much. She's willing to fix the madness and open Underhill again, over clearing her name of the accusations thrown at her in A Court of Honey and Ash.
Faolin has so much more to discover about him, his revelations and Kallik's reactions made me mushy. I feel like something has to give for the two of them.
And these side characters, as they become more fleshed out, I absolutely want more about her BFF Cinth's life! The Oracle went from being one I was angry with, to one I enjoyed immensely. And don't get me started on the gentle giant with all the avatars!
Oh, and then there's the twists & betrayals... gah, I need more! January is not getting here fast enough!
This story follows Kallik and Faolan as they escape from certain death hanging over Alli’s head in the seelie courts. Can she open Underhill and prove her innocence? It’s her job to expose the truth, whatever that truth may be, and believe me it is NOT the truth you are thinking or expecting!
My daughter and I read together, and she has always sat on the opposite side of the line as me on certain characters, I won’t give it away, but she ended up being quite right. Although, I was definitely right on Alli’s heritage!
Such an amazing book, you won’t want to put it down.
Nuanced, with fun dynamics in the relationships and a slow burn romance framed with every plot twist your heart can handle.
This is the kind of read that has you anxiously watching your read percentage, not wanting the story to end but also desperate to find out what next.
I personally love all the different paranormals that find their way into this story through the Underhill connection and am firmly a fan of fae tales after these two books!
Fun world building, creative plot, all around good read❣️

A Throne of Feathers and Bone (Honey and Ice Trilogy #2)
This was a more convoluted read than book #1. The tale was far more twisty & turny, it took us down what amounted to dead ends that then veered the story in other directions, with each new path adding more questions & revealing few answers.🙈😕
After their escape from Alli's execution, they go to the Unseelie castle. She meets the Queen for the first time. She is everything the Seelie Queen Consort isn't. After fleeing the Fae island Alli & Lan spend more time together, looking for the entry to Underhill. With diversions & near death experiences they're drawn closer constantly. After an explosion of their mixed magic causes devastation, Alli loses hope that she's worthy or that they'll ever be able to be together.💔
Truth lies in Underhill for them both, especially Alli, but is she ready to hear it?😲 What has become of Cinth?😔 Can Ruby calm the outcasts fury?🙏 Will war ruin them all?💥
This was a frustrating & captivating read. These Authors have a great writing chemistry, it's seamless.👍 Now the agonising wait begins for book #3.🙈 Enjoy the ride.🌟

In this second installment of the Honey and ice trilogy Alli, as always, has a tough task ahead of her on her hunt to find the door to underhill.
We learn more about the backstories of our characters in this book, and Alli grows so much!
The relationship between Alli and Lan is also getting stronger, I love their banter and the romance is definitely kicked up a notch or two!
Its so hard to write a review without any spoilers, but If you like enemies to friend/lovers then you will love this.
I want to see more of Kelly and Shannon I seriously hope they team up for lots more books after this series because the writing is seamless and fits together so well.
I cant wait for the next book to be released as I think I will be suffering a serious book hangover untill then. The only thing I hate is that it will be the last one!

Whilst I thought the premise of the story was quite good, I just couldn't get past the lazy writing. I'm not going to waste any more time on this series, or reading anything else by these authors. I'm not their demographic.
