There's a difference between a hook & a cliffhanger. I know this. But damn if it doesn't feel like a cliffhanger! Wow! So.much.information!
This book was action from page 1 & continues until page 342! Of the many theories I had going into this, it took about 16% into the book to figure one out, & the spectacular way it was finally confirmed caused my ineffectual words at the end. Speechless.
This absolute tapestry of a world, from modern Alaska to the Fae island, to Underhill itself... amazing and rich and complex!
Love it!
As for Faolan and Kallik, they being a Seelie and an Unseelie, forever doomed to never be together, due to one dying if they give in to their magnetism... it was bittersweet, because they are connected on such a deep level. However, I seriously enjoyed the push and pull, the snark and humor, the flirting, the NEED they have for each other in the middle of their fae world going mad; it's intense. Not quite enemies to lovers, but has that feel.
As always, our badass heroine Kallik, with her humor, snark, and loyalty to FRamily, those who you MAKE your family, make me love her so much. She's willing to fix the madness and open Underhill again, over clearing her name of the accusations thrown at her in A Court of Honey and Ash.
Faolin has so much more to discover about him, his revelations and Kallik's reactions made me mushy. I feel like something has to give for the two of them.
And these side characters, as they become more fleshed out, I absolutely want more about her BFF Cinth's life! The Oracle went from being one I was angry with, to one I enjoyed immensely. And don't get me started on the gentle giant with all the avatars!
Oh, and then there's the twists & betrayals... gah, I need more! January is not getting here fast enough!
