Nyfain, the golden dragon prince, tried to set me free. But there is no freedom in this kingdom. Not for anyone.
The demons have sought me out. They want to trap me. To use me against Nyfain.
It's only a matter of time before they call in the demon king.
Nyfain thinks I should save myself. That I should barter with the demon king to escape this place.
But can I give myself to the creature responsible for torturing the people I love?
In order to save them, though, I might not have a choice.

lot better. A LOT BETTER. They were actually characters I wanted to get to know.I think Breene pretty much used every dirty word in existence, as I highlighted above; plus verbs and adverbs to round out the action. Plus everything sexual her imagination could put in a book. OMG nothing sexual is off limits in this book. Heroine even reminisce about her female on female sexual experience, was this supposed to be sexy it wasn’t. Not because it was between two females, but it seemed that they author just decided to throw it in. Then Finley & Nyfain go about acting out sex scenes in romance books. I have to honestly say if you cut out the sex in this book the plot is extremely THIN, and it comes at the end of the book. In fact it’s not a fantasy romance it is a pure sex romp. If I would’ve know Breene was going to just write a sex romp I might have passed on book two; as I expected a plot to go with the sex. Breene can write books with plots as her other books attest. Yes, Breene writes hotter than hell sex; but when the sex is the be all and end all of a story it actually gets redundant. I honestly kept thinking they could be training people to fight, and shore up their defenses if they stopped knocking boots so blasted much. Except for a scene about the other villages and the end the book was nothing but sex.I did read this via kindle unlimited but bought the audiobook.
This book ends on a pretty big cliffhanger… it’s not a life threatening one, but it is life changing. Consider yourself warned!
Book two picks up where book one left off, with Finley dealing with the aftermath of meeting Nyfain, and his subsequent leaving of her.
It’s not long before she gets herself in trouble, and is back at the castle again.
Nyfain and Finley start to help the kingdom recover from the curse of the Demon King, and of course that is bound to get his attention!
There’s lots of developments in the romantic stakes, and some developments in the overarching plot line, so get your pearls ready!
Hadriel provides plenty of comic relief, while the demons provide mischief and fight scenes.
We learn a little more about shifters and the world Finley lives in too.
I enjoyed the subtle head nod to the Disney movie, made even more amusing by the fact that this is NOT a PG rated book.
Finley has a foul mouth, Hadriel is worse. The demonic denizens at the castle have a tendency to cause devilish doings, and it may well leave the reader clutching their pearls in shock!
While that may be the case, it doesn’t detract from the fact that the book is completely engrossing. Finley is a strong character, and Nyfain is equally so, which means that they clash at times, many of those end up being blisteringly hot encounters.
This entertaining read might end on a cliffhanger, but the reader will enjoy every step of the journey, before beginning the wait for the next book with bated breath.
Recommended for those who enjoy their fantasy stories on the dark and sexy side!
I love this author, but I didn't like this book. Story lines did progress, yes, and *spoiler* we are left with a cliff hanger at the end. There is *another spoiler* also a reveal at the end. For those who have read the previous books and were paying attention, the reveal would not be a surprise. The dialogue was great as always, and the letters in this one were a nice touch and enjoyable to read. But -- and I very rarely say this -- there was too much sex.
I'm done with the series. I can go to other authors to read about shifters having sex, and it won't be so long and drawn out. I'm sure Finley will get out of the predicament she was in at the end of this one. I just don't care enough to read anymore.

She moves back into the tower in the castle and spends the majority of her time creating many elixirs for the castle staff and surrounding villages. The remainder of her time, is mostly spent sleeping with Nyfain.
But their happy little bubble has to burst at some point; they cannot evade the demon king forever.
Damn! This book was even hotter than the first. So.much.sex. And somehow it all felt relevant to the plot rather than just being smutty for the sake of it. Well, in my opinion anyway.
The dynamic between Finley and Nyfain is sweet, hot, angry, erotic, and hilarious. I love Breene’s signature dark humour in all her books, and this could be one of her funniest as I often found myself genuinely laughing out loud - much to my husband’s annoyance.
As usual, the side characters didn’t disappoint either, Hadriel being my favourite. He’s just so refreshingly ridiculous, how could I not love him?
I’m devastated that the next book doesn’t come out til February (yes, I know it could be worse, but I need it now damnit!) How does one sign up for a KF Breene ARC?

**potential spoilers**
Finley and Nyfain are hot together but in the manner I have come to anticipate from K.F.Breene they connect on a much deeper level, leaving us readers completely invested in their blossoming relationship.
I really enjoyed Finleys fledgling relationship with her animal too which I am totally rooting for being a dragon... fingers crossed lol
I really like how Finley isn't afraid of going it alone when needed, she doesn't just defer to Nyfain. Her presence is doing something to heal the castle so I hope this next cliffhanger doesn't take her away for too long.
Now the wait begins again, can't wait to see where this next adventure takes me and Finley x

The characters are snarky and hardened by a life, stuck in shitty towns & castles, with a curse suppressing them all. There is class warfare, romance, hints of rough play, lots of spicy things, books and amazing library (honestly the best thing about the beauty and the beast movie was his amazing library)... And the side characters provide enough fun, sass and comedy to make it worth it.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and a half/5 (smut is 5/5).
Characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
It has good twists and turns, a little bit of mystery, some awesome schemes, a good lot of gardening and some power play.
Well worth a read if you are into Beauty and the beast story lines, class romances, Shifters, deep romance, mates, sword fights, demons, healing, dress ups, supernatural occurances, and so much more... Runs off to get book 3!

A Throne of Ruin (Deliciously Dark Fairytales, Book #2)
This book picks up where AROR left of.
Finley wakes & is mad to discover that Nyfain left before he was fully healed. She's determined to rescue him from himself, no matter what his letter & the hole in her middle says!😢 Here starts some very enjoyable & make you squirm, letters with book exchanges between them both.🥵🔥
Finely eventually gets back to the castle. She's been missed by Hadriel especially & her maid is so happy to have her back as well.😁 The potions she left with them have caused some hilarious revelations. They all fear it will bring the Demon King back to them to find out what's happening!😳😈
Nyfain and Finley have made strides in their relationship. She's very willing to try new things that intrigue her. Just because she's a strong, independant woman, it doesn't mean she can't enjoy giving up control, will he try the same though?🧐 Feelings are becoming tangled and their animals are very pushy! She's starting to wish they could be mates.💔
Has Finley finally found a cure? Well it seems very good at slowing the disease at least. Then a young girl from a different village shows up at the castle, she's desperate & begs for help. Now we'll see a side of Finley we've never seen before! Hold on tight.😱💥🥰
This book actually outstripped AROR by one whole star for pace, character development, storyline, steam, tension, angst ... Well everything if I'm honest! So, was I too hasty with my 5 star for AROR? No, I don't think so.🤔 I believe the Author just turned EVERYTHING UP a notch. This is a 5 star plus read. I was blown away.🤯
From when a certain someone arrives on the scene, it went to *yet another level* again!🌟That ending though? Agonising.😭💔
Truly & completely compelling and unmissable.🥵😍🌟

I refuse to give spoilers, but do remember when reading that you may be shocked (but not if you read book 1) and if you haven't got an open mind this book may not be for you.
Me, I will restring my pearls ready for the next installment of Finley and Nyfan's love story.
PS: more Hadriel, more Hannon please
