There's not really a way to talk about this movie without spoiling some information about the plot because the entire thing is just a bunch of tied together plot twists that could have possibly worked if handled differently but that just feel gimmicky and unnecessary here. Going the unreliable narrator route would have been a fine twist but they made the turn at around the 3/4 mark and then had to spend screen time catching the viewer up to where the main character was at, it's just a really weird pacing choice and the continuous use of voice over narration feels lazy, like they didn't know how to completely show but not tell like a good film should so they included a lot of voice over just to drop in a quippy line every now and then. The reported doesn't really make sense as a character and felt like they smashed big city reporter, big city lawyer and psychiatrist all into one character. She was so out of place that I half expected this to end up being Shutter Island and the entire plot was just going to center around her being crazy and the town trying this one last ditch effort to make her remember everything but that seems like a dream compared to the hackneyed way that they wrapped this up. They have to reveal this huge secret but in order to do so the people trying to bring all of this to light take a bunch of people hostage and basically set the stage for a showdown that has no place in this movie at all. If a few things were reworked and moved around this could have been salvaged but, as it is, it's a really messy movie and feels too jumbled without purpose to recommend.
