Tiger Tactics will quickly become required reading for lawyers in all specialities. I am grateful for the wisdom and vulnerability shared by the authors. Truly a must read!
Lawyers with a cross-section of different practice areas, such as: Family law, Divorce, Criminal law, Personal injury, Consumer law & bankruptcy...
If you could manage to find these lawyers you'd want to sit them down and interview them. You'd want to access all of the practical wisdom you could, right? You'd want to compare their various approaches to get a clear grasp of the common elements of their success.
But it would NOT be realistic to expect to be able to do this, right?
First, you'd have to find five successful lawyers who were willing to spend time explaining their thought processes. Then you'd have to visit them wherever they were to interview them. And you'd have to transcribe the interviews and then distill their insights down to some kind of text document that you could pore over and refer back to from time to time.
Well, good news: you don't have to. All of that is in this book.
And it's just sitting there waiting for you to tap into the insights that will lead you to massive improvements in your practice. Now...
There is one small bit of "bad news." Namely, that this not a conventional book. So...you must approach this book in the right way or...you’ll fail to see the huge opportunities it offers.
Approach the book as a conversation you're having with those five lawyers —a conversation you can go back to whenever you want to (because the conversation was transcribed into a book). In other words, this is not a book you read through once. It’s a reference resource.
And best of all? The authors are exceptionally candid about the mistakes they made in building their practices.
So if you have some nagging feeling that maybe you lack some talent or skill that is needed to succeed... Well, that doubt will be erased when you see that the authors all had similar doubts and challenges.
If you have any curiosity at all about how to improve your practice, and you want clear guidance on HOW to improve it then order this book now.
read. As someone who tried to get a law form off the ground, but couldnt - I reallllly wish I had had this book before I tried. As the authors readily admit, it is not a manual to opening a firm, but more a lesson plan. It wont tell you exactly what to do to open and create a successful law firm, but it will put your head in the right place to determine what to do and do it.
It is also quite amazing how candid the authors are in both their successful strategies as well as there memorable mistakes. The only lawyer of the group I know personally is Bill Umansky - so I paid especially close attention to his parts and am glad I did. What his parts show is that like in most fields, there is no hidden secret to success or trait that makes you a person destined for success, just hard word and drive. This is quite satisfying, because it shows anyone can do it. His parts also highlight what is best about this book: that is goes over both the general concets,
but also grounds them with relateable
examples of their application (too many books like this dont - and just stat vague).
Definitely a worth-while read
It's complete with different perspectives, across practice areas, and contains the kind of honest self-reflection and disclosure that Brene Brown would be proud of. This book is as much an act of courage for the lawyers who share their journeys in it, as it is a gift to the lawyering community. It is honest, approachable, and practical.
I can't recommend the book more highly and will gift it to anyone I can for years to come.
If you are a young attorney or a seasoned veteran, you would be wise to heed the advice of these smart and savvy lawyer entrepreneurs.
They each have a unique and interesting story that, when pulled together into this book, redefine what true success from a personal and business standpoint really means.
