His antics facial expressions take away from the joke.Carlin knew how to do it...he doesn't.Talks about how old people should just that funny? Lets take all your elderly people out of your life forever and make sure you laugh! Also tell you children how funny it is when Grandpa and Grandma dies. It'll be hilarious at the wake/funeral.I found it offensive. My friend has an oxygen tank and he's loved dearly. The whole dance routine is ridiculous when the cool dude coming on stage has a betty boop curl in his balding head.Joke about that funny man! Post office? How often you have your bank account close to drained because of online scams.Thats funny? When was the last time you were scammed at the post office? Chinese food. Yeh they have different foods.Frogs legs are delicious. You eat shrimp or lobster?See what they look like before dying? Do you find that weird? Wont watch this guy again.Hes not very smart.

This one ruined Tom Papa for me.

Comedy, like food, is relatable both for its universal, and "local" appeal. Everybody eats, but not everybody enjoys the same food.
Having said that, while I've enjoyed Tom Papa's comedy in the past, Tom Papa: Freaked Out, like a morsel from an ill-prepared dish, left a most irritating aftertaste. So bad that I couldn't continue watching, so bad I couldn't force myself to enjoy the Sept. 7, 2019 episode of NPR's Wait, Wait ...Don't Tell Me just because Tom Papa filled in as the host.
I'm sure other people enjoyed the show, though.

I originally heard this man on a pandora skit
Verified purchase on Pandora( I have spotify Now) when you wanted to stream somebody for free you just pick a comedian you like and because you are not paying they will connect you with comedians that are similar- I am sure we are all familiar with this. Well when this guy came on I was driving, could not pick up my phone to look at the comedians Name...well needless to say I never laughed so hard. The only issues was by the time I had a chance to peak at my phone screen the 3min kit was over and I had no idea who this amazing man glad I finally thought to google "Standup: Comedian takes daughter to church" and well needless to say I am smiling from ear to ear!!

Tom Papa is a funny guy. And he doesn't have to be dirty and shocking to do it. Not that I mind dirty or don't appreciate some shock value...but his humor indicates that he's probably a pretty smart fellow. And insightful.I think comedians have a very dark side to them. He covers his pretty well without being Mary Poppins. This show is enjoyable and if you are looking for something to watch some evening with the family, I would certainly recommend this.
(and when I say watching it with the family is ok, I mean it...but probably not real young kids who may not be able to differentiate between a humorous take on something and reality. But there's not a lot of bad language as I recall, or indecent material). Enjoy!

This guy is a pleasure to watch and listen to. He knows his stuff and commands the stage with confidence and grace. His humor is tight and real. He is not mean or crass...And that is rare in comedy today. He is a grown-up and acts like one. I will buy his acts to share with family and friends. I love giving DVD s like this one to people who need some funny in their lives.....better than a dumb greeting card. I wish this comic a long and successful career. It would really be cool to see tom papa work with Jim any venue.......that would be cool.

Tom Papa’s special was mostly family friendly. There are a few PG-13 moments, but it was mostly clean and didn't rely on sexual jokes. He was occasionally humorous, but there were no laugh out loud segments for me. There were a few light chuckle moments, but not enough to warrant many stars. He did have good timing and facial expressions, so I think he could be funny. I suspect that this was not his best work.

Terrible beginning

Couldn’t get past the first five minutes. Based on the few reviews I read, I expected something along the line of Mike Birbiglia or Jim Gafigan - other comics who don’t curse and are not political but are hilarious- but the first 5 minutes of this show are unbearable and I can’t waste the time to find out if some of material is funny...

We've watched Tom Papa: Freaked Out at least 10 times and we laugh uproariously every time. His family insights are priceless, tidbits about marriage, his facial expressions, timing and physical humor are hilarious, but he also makes you think. You'll have a good time. He's clean. That's always a big point for me, what can I watch with my family without having to cover their eyes or ears. Personally, it takes far more skill and hard work to craft jokes and stories that genuinely make people laugh, than to sprinkle a story with foul language and toilet references. For example, we watched a youtube "clean" version of a Russell Peters stand-up routine, and we totally enjoyed him. Then we tried to watch the unclean version... it was disgusting. We had to turn him off, and haven't watched him since. We truly love Tom Papa. He's the guy to watch if you want to laugh until your sides hurt. We can't wait for him to come to NYC!
