This Did Not Air in 1979

This appearance of Don Rickles is OK, but he's been better. Also, this episode absolutely did not air in 1979....based on references made to the Patty Hearst kidnapping, the NFL strike, mention of Johnny's cigarette box (unbroken...broken by Rickles himself in Dec. '76 in a famous incident), and Rickles mentioning he had been married for 10 years. This would put it somewhere in 1975 through early '76 (there was also reference to the Bicentennial minute). Had I known this was from 1975 or '76, I wouldn't have spent $2.00 on this episode, as I've already seen this appearance anyway, and haven't seen any of Rickles' late night talk show appearances from the late '70s through the early '80s (obviously, I'm a big Rickles fan). If you're new to Don Rickles, by all means watch it, but know it is absolutely NOT from 1979.

Johnny is the greatest!

I grew up watching Johnny, I thought he might go on forever. When I was a child, my parents allowing me to stay up late Friday nights to watch Johnny Carson was a very special treat. I remember falling asleep in the room next to the living room and could hear him on TV as my parents watched. I continued to watch as I got older until his last show. There will never be another like him, he was one of a kind.

description of guests not accurate

the only guest you get to see is Don Rickles. Though it is a fun interview to watch, I initially got it to see Robert Blake. Johnny announces that Vickie Carr, and others will be on, but that is all edited out.
