Glad to have this on DVD. It's rarely on TV. Saw it on channel 162 Xfinity. First time I ever saw it...and I watch ONLY westerns...for many years...almost daily. Comes in very clear. Sound is fine, though I did have to turn it up to 42 to hear it normally. And I am not hard of hearing. Very good acting. I like Beverly Tyler's acting. She wasn't in very many westerns that I have seen, unless it was smaller parts...and maybe I didn't notice her. She was so pretty and had a sensitive good nature the times I have seen her.

Not George's Best (A U/K joke reference)

nother of MGM's Limited Edition made to order, and sadly not one of their best. In fact it really is only for die-hard western lovers and fans of George Montgomery and Jim Davis (I am all 3, so biased in my review, but take that into account). The story is old hat - Hero goes undercover as an outlaw to trap the 3 worst outlaws the West has ever seen (Davis, Gerald Milton and Lane Bradford). He has a son who believes he really is an outlaw, and a heroine (a poor Beverly Tyler, all coy and sickenly warm hearted). But, hey, it all works out after a few gunfights, but no fisticuffs. George Montgomery always looks the part, and Jim acts his socks off, and it's lovely to see Lane Bradford (as Curly Bill Brocius!) and Harry Lauter and Gregg Barton and the oft seen, never truly recognised except by nerds like me, Al Wyatt. (I wonder where Boyd Morgan was when they shot this one.) It moves along, directd professionally, but I felt unimaginatively by Earl Bellamy, and Produced by the ever so busy Robt. E.Kent. The print is excellent , B/W 4.3 ratio, and 71 minutes short. Not the best western by anyone's standards, but as I said earlier, I am a fan and I enjoyed it. As a footnote to MGM and their Limited Edition people. You charge a lot - could you please make more of an effort with production info, or at least give a complete cast list?? Anyone else agree?

A typical 1957 western
George Montgomery plays as Matt Stone who was a law man, but left this role when an outlaw killed his wife. His son saw the murder and can identify the murderer. The killer tries to kill the boy so that he will not be identified. The action takes place some time later in Tombstone, Arizona. Arizona is plagued by gangs holding up shipping and rustling. The president of the US asks Stone to be the captain of a new law organization, the Arizona Rangers. The president is unable to allow Arizona to become a State if the criminal acts continue. Stone gathers deputies and goes to Tombstone undercover, as a criminal, to get evidence against Johnny Ringo and his gang. His son is convinced that his dad is now a criminal.
