So I really did like this series unfortunately I think this will be the last one I buy. At first just being a super villain was great but then as the series progressed it started to get very left wing political. Personally I don’t care if it’s left or right I don’t read these books to hear people’s ideas I hear enough in real life. But this book I only got to the 3ed chapter the whole he has 3 wife’s or girlfriends or whatever and his daughter calling 2 of them mom it reminded me of those anime’s where the nerdy kid has like 5 hot girls all over him and yes I know it’s fiction unfortunately there’s morons out there thinking hey that can be me well nope it’s not and it’s not even close to reality. To be honest it’s just a pet peeve with me if you don’t mind it go for it but there’s also a lot of jumping around talking about other worlds others dimensions other selfs it’s a lot to take in.

All I know to say on this book is that it had some of the greatest twist I did not see coming. The first part had me feeling like the story was leading toward some big changes fro Merciless and that part was true but not in the way I expected.

As Gary gets involved in a multiversal battle with all of reality at stake we get to meet characters from all of the other books from C.T. Phipp's library and a few jabs at every genre of story.

If I hadn't been enjoying the Audible version I'm not sure I would've finished this volume. C.T. Phipps started screwing with poor Gary more than I find enjoyable to encounter in a story, and the only stories of Merciless we get are the ones with constantly grander stakes with things constantly getting darker along the way. Thankfully, the ending redeems this book, and leaves me feeling like the next one will be worth reading. If you've been enjoying the series so far then I recommend you make the effort to finish this one, as the ending distinctly gives the feeling that C.T. Phipps might have finally found Merciless' super-powered stride to keep the story going strong.

The Supervillainy crew is back, now with more characters from other stories. They are in Mortal Combat, the movie, and fighting to win the Dragon Balls. About 1/4 of the way in, I no longer cared, a bit later I jumped to the end to see if someone wished for a pair of panties.

In a departure from the previous formula, this book sees Gary sucked into a multi-dimensional tournament, a la Mortal Kombat, Balls of Fury, or Contact by Matthew Reilly. (Was naming the island Hell Island a nod to Reilly?) The introduction of Charles' other characters into the book was a ton of fun. I've read a few of them, but am now more interested in reading the others, particularly Lucifer's Star.

It's a fun fighting game superhero parody. Solid jumping on point, though you wonder at the references.
But it's crippled by the proofreading. Incorrect names, changing tense, alternating person, and a few simple typos. It desperately needs a couple rounds of real proofreading before I could actually recommend it.

This was a wickedly funny book with plenty of pop culture snark and references but also lots of action. I love the continual development of the characters and the twists and turns of the plot. The author does a good job of introducing his other series as well in a way that makes the book fun. I can't wait to read the next book!
