I got this for colouring with my Copic markers, as it doesn't smudge or run with alcohol-based inks. It works very well for that, but I'm used to using Versafine Onyx Black ink, which stamps fine detail very well in one shot. It's a good thing I was using my MISTI with this ink, because the first stamping came out very splotchy, and I had to ink up the stamp and give it another firm stamping to get the lines nice and dark. Definitely not switching from my Versafine, but this is a must for anything that you're going to use Copics on.
This Black ink is my "go to" for any rubberstamping that I plan to add color. Some inks will smear or run if used w/markers or even colored pencils. I can use this ink and still color the images using either Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Spectrum Aqua markers that are water based. When I use this ink to stamp a greeting or sentiment on a card it image is usually crisp and clear.
I've been trying quite a few black ink pads to use with my off-brand Copics. So many take forever to dry (even using a heat tool) and still run. This is by far the best pad I've tried. Very happy with this and can now stop looking for the perfect black ink pad because I have it!
The main feature I like about this ink stamp pad is the water-based washability. For my purposes on paper this works great! Inks do vary a lot from washable to permanent. I chose the water base mainly because my silicone handstamp can be easily cleaned with Memento. The variety of choices on colors is amazing as well. This is a good value for basic and stamping needs. I recommend it to anyone.
I've been searching for the very best black inks for stamping, embossing, etc. This came in #2. I liked it - it cleaned off my clear stamps nicely but when watercoloring, the ink did smear somewhat. I will use it but not the best for watercoloring.
