Dubbed - no other way to watch
Verified purchase
Like disaster type movies and Norwegian movies/tv shows. But also hate watching dubbed movies and tv shows so I will not be watching a movie that I would probably really enjoy. While I assume many people must like dubbed movies, why do I not have the option to watch in the original language with subtitles?

Subtitles out of sync

The film was fine but nothing special. I happen to like Norwegian disaster movies (try The Wave or The Quake), but this one was fairly mediocre by comparison. My problem was with the subtitles: they appeared on the screen 2-3 seconds AFTER the dialog had been spoken. This didn't start happening until about a third of the way into the film, and it made it very hard to follow. I frequently watch subtitled films as I enjoy the dialog in the original language, but I've never had a problem like this. Unfortunately, Amazon makes it impossible to report a problem of this nature, but rather gives you a list of FAQ tips to try (nothing worked for me). I'll look elsewhere in the future when I want to stream a subtitled film.

Excellent Fast Paced Movie

A very enjoyable movie. I found the characters compelling and easy to identify with. The movie was action packed and very suspenseful. There was very little excess drama to take it past believable. It is definitely a well written, must see movie. I also absolutely loved the scenery. Norway is a beautiful country. I think with all the amazing movies from around the world to see now, we can stop the complaining about subtitles. It makes no difference in such good movies.

Really Bad Movie

Absolutely worst movie we have seen in at least 10 years. If I were Norwegian I would lie and tell people I was Swedish. We had seriously thought our next vacation, whenever that is, might be to Norway. Now we aren't too sure, folks in this movie were way dumb. This was seriously a B-A-D movie.

Excellent Suspense

This movie is a dubbed foreign film, however, you can't tell it. They did a good job. The scenery is beautiful, the special effects are great, and the suspense will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

It looks like the subtitles have been mostly fixed.

Another excellent Norwegian disaster film. My wife walked by the room and asked me if I was watching anime, and judging from the dialog, it seemed so. But it is something you get used to. I was in tears by the end of the film, it is that intense.
Having watched The Wave, The Quake and now The Tunnel, I'm a little reluctant to visit Norway right away.
According to the film makers, a lot of infrastructure needs to be improved.
However, this is a really good little movie.

Mediocre Disaster Movie
Verified purchase
The movie never builds on increasing suspense in the way an exciting disaster movie should. You have characters that are in one scene and never seen or heard from again with no resolve in why they were in the movie in the first place. The movie offers some great film work and a beautiful background, but never gets the viewer so involved they cannot wait for the next scene to see what will happen. Its lack of involving the viewer emotionally is the biggest minus of this movie. The stoic actors never made me believe they felt much emotionally for the others in dire circumstance. The Director even trying a wheelchair to prop up emotions that the actors could not. For this reason I rated it an average run of mill movie that is fine for passing 2 hours, but not something anyone would remember or talk about 1 day later.

Subtitles are mistimed

So the main issue with watching this is that the subtitles are behind by a few seconds. Unless you speak Norwegian you won't know whats being said at the time its said, but a few seconds later. Its difficult to put into words how irritating this is.

Aside from that, with respect to the content of the movie itself, it tries its best with its scenario but after all, its a movie about a bunch of people you don't know dying of smoke inhalation. Its just not an inherently interesting or dramatic. The acting is pretty good but honestly, its mostly just kinda dull.
