Oh my $%#@%!!*#&!

Oh my $%#@%!!*#&! The movie itself seems ok, but someone decided I'm a child and can't handle the $#$@!! %^& %#&%# language. So, to spare my childlike ears, they !%#)&%!%# $##% erased the **$#&!@ naughty words.

Drinking game: do a shot whenever the film's audio is edited. By the end you'll forget the insult of the censors. Salud!

They edited out "hurtful" words

The movie is alright, but leave it as it was. People need to grow spines again.

Loved this movie since the 90s
Verified purchase
I first saw this film when I rented the tape from Hollywood Video and played it in my VCR. I bought my own copy from Columbia House and watched it a few times over the last 20+ years. It's a hard movie to find so I'm glad Amazon Prime offered it once more.
Denis Leary: he is a foul-mouthed, uncouth mismatch to Sandra Bullock, and it it is great to see them as a couple. I am a Leary fan and his acting in this film is really his style (Rescue Me), and Bullock is an unconventional sweetheart in this tale; however she can serve back to Leary. Some may hate it because it's not a typical Bullock film, but Leary fans will enjoy him and Bullock as his partner. Give it a chance- it is an older film but it is good to see actors we have loved a long time acting in a completely different way.
Loved it when it was new, still love it today.

Seriously disappointing
Verified purchase
Lots of people liked this, but I'm not one of them, and if they had left the "salty" language in it would have made no difference. I was expecting a hard, edgy R-rated comedy like "Ruthless People" or "Outrageous Fortune." Instead, I got cute gangsters. Am I the only one to notice that 1) Denis Leary finds a painting by Matisse in a book titled "Masterpieces of Impressionism" and 2) when he sees it in the book it's horizontal and when he sees it on the wall of the bad guy it's vertical? Just venting here.

Amazon's Woke-Scold Censorship Ruined It
Verified purchase
You gotta shake your head when the F-word and G-D are acceptable, but we must censor the indelicate, "unwoke" words. Our civilization has gone down the toilet. Either let the movie stand as is or remove it. Censorship is not the answer.

This film is almost 30 years old. Times have changed. That's okay. We can handle it. Let it be, censors. Let it be.

If you love Elmore Leonard...
Verified purchase
I laughed out loud often in this movie. If you liked Get Shorty or any other Elmore Leonard film, you will love this one. It's about stupid crooks and charming crooks. The plot is excellent; the acting is excellent. Have a good time and watch this film. It is clever and it doesn't disappoint. Denis Leary and Sandra Bullock have charisma together. This film made me smile constantly and laugh a lot. Definitely would watch again.

I was surprised how good this romantic comedy was
Verified purchase
I was surprised how good this romantic comedy was. Sandra Bullock was her usual lovable self, very funny, with a little bit of a New York accent. Dennis Leary, who I've honestly never been a big fan of, was actually very good in this movie. This is probably the best thing I've ever seen him in. I noticed that he co-wrote the movie, which kind of surprised me. Didn't realize he was that talented. His character is sort of a Neanderthal, but there's a lot of yuks generated by that. The story is a little predictable at times, but fun to watch. It's all for the best. A great supporting cast including Yaphet Koto as the FBI agent determined to get his man. I don't know why Yaphet Koto always gets stuck playing a cop or government official, but he's really good in that role. There's a lot of laughs in this movie and I'd say this is a great date movie.

Two art thieves uncomfortable with their profession.
Verified purchase
Two lifelong beginners wishing they were not doing what they have been asked to do, relaxing in a comfortable house in a vacation town, while they wait for an untrustworthy guy to come and give them a small amount of money for the painting they have stolen before the action begins.
