I'm a HUGE fan of Tyler Perry's movies and plays even before he became famous. So I was baffled how this movie slipped through the cracks! Tyler Perry hits another huge issue with 51% of America today. Actually it's probably more as so many people don't get married, they have children and one of the parents, like in this movie, is hardly if ever heard from until the other spouse wants to get divorced. It doesn't have Madea in this movie but that's a good thing because she would go back to jail when the judge awards custody of these precious girls to the mother. Isn't that what usually happens? Mama's get custody of the kids in every case I've ever heard of but it doesn't mean that she should. This film the mama is as crazy as they come and IMO has no business being a mother. It doesn't help that the father made a mistake and did a little time when he was a kid. Wrong place wrong time. The mama is with a man who is the neighborhood "candy man" and runs his soldiers all over to collect or should I say terrorize the neighborhood. People say the cops won't come and look to the father to help them take care of this guy. I have a question. Do the cops come to ANY neighborhood? Takes them 30min-hour to get to mine that's if their order at Waffle House or (fill in choice word) is finished on time! This movie has gotta be a true story! Anyway y'all can pretty much guess how it ends and for the short bus riders I'm not gonna say anything to spoil it (too late!). It's always got a lesson to be learned from it and IMO the lesson is that no matter how bad life gets, if you just don't quit and keep your chin up and keep going, don't let people try and bring you you down because they are waiting for you and will do everything they can to bring you down or backwards but you must not let ANYONE! You keep going and eventually everything will work itself out. It's the real truth too because I'm disabled and I speak on it because it's happening to me. I keep the bad out of my life and mind and my health improved!

Enjoyed this movie! Finally a poor black man wins. It was warm and little disturbing. I did cry at his struggle trying to find the courage within to stand up among so many who were against him. And he only seemed to have Faith. And love for his family. Victory. ❤

I love Tyler Perry as a producer, actor, actress, Man of God - A snapshot of how hard it is to be a Black Man in America, and sometimes his own neighborhood. There are a plethora of good, strong, ethical, caring, concerned black men who do take care of the community. Just a glimpse of the many struggles, and proof again that faith, hope, and miracles can flip the script quickly, Thank you for another quality film!
easily my all time favorite tyler perry film. what i love most about this film is tyler perry tells it from both sides, not just one. You always hear about the deadbeat dads who never do what they're suppose to raising their kids but you never ever hear about the deadbeat mothers who don't or the ones who will do anything in their power to keep the kids from the men who actually want their kids and want to do right but won't allow the man to be with them and do so simply out of spite. well, this film showcases the honest hardworking father figure holding his three girls down while their deadbeat nonchalant mother is just making their lives a living hell as well as her ex husband dating a drug dealer and teaching her kids all kinds of wrong life values. 5 star at it's best and really makes you appreciate the good guys who do what they're suppose to do but don't get acknowledged or receive credit for their efforts and character.
Liked it very much. One thing, I really like Tasha Smith, but after seeing WHY DID I GET MARRIED AND THEN WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO, I wish they would Give Angela better roles, she is a very good actress, however, her roles are getting more and more obnoxious. Nobody on the planet is ignorant enough to continually act stupid throughout an entire movie,Give her a break and let her play a different role FOR A CHANGE. AS I STATED, FROM THE BEGINNING, I THINK TASHA SMITH IS A REALLY GOOD ACTRESS. I am convinced that Tasha is capable of playing in other roles besides GHETTO AND OBNOXIOUS MOVIES OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Bemmerdale warned, need multi region DID player as this is American did. Awful film, I'd risk seemed really uncomfortable trying to play a father and still needs to work on his accent though this is 2007 and he fares much better in ecent American films ...
I am a great fan of Idris Elba and was not disappointed with his performance in this film, which made me laugh and cry and dealt with issues many of can relate too.
