Doctor Doom, Deadpool, even Thanos: There’s one hero who’s beaten them all — and now she’s starring in her own series! That’s right, it’s SQUIRREL GIRL! The nuttiest and most upbeat super hero in the world is starting college! And as if meeting her new roommate and getting to class on time isn’t hard enough, now she has to deal with Kraven the Hunter, too? At least her squirrel friend Tippy-Toe is on hand to help out. But what can one girl, and one squirrel, do when a hungry Galactus heads toward Earth? You’d be surprised! With time running out and Iron Man lending a helping hand (sort of), who will win in the battle between the Power Cosmic and the Power Chestnut? Plus: Squirrel Girl’s classic debut!

This is such a refreshing take for a Superhero. The comic is filled with humor, inventiveness and when necessary a good thwacking. It can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike.
I discovered Squirrel Girl at the library but had to buy the first issue since it was missing. Of course some ne'er do well took it. My suspicion falls on Deadpool.
Squirrel Girl is not the first squirrel superhero I've met. In the yard of my parent's secret lair, in a secret part of the pacific northwest in a secret country, (there are other countries beside the US that have a pacific northwest) is a black squirrel (grey squirrel with recessive black hair genes) named Hurl-Squirrel. When she finds garbage in the forest she picks it up and hurls it into someone's lawn so that it will get thrown away. Rubber tires are a challenge for Hurl-Squirrel so if you could dispose of them properly instead of dropping them in the woods, she would appreciate it.
I don't read a lot of comic books or graphic novels these days, but Amazon was offering me deeply discounted specials on certain comic book selections, and this one in particular caught my eye, so I thought "Sure, what the heck, why not?"
I'm sure glad I did! "Squirrel Girl" is action-packed, witty, clever, and imaginative. And unlike all those other comic book superheroes who are so damn serious, dark, and brooding nowadays, this one is delightfully lighthearted.
RANDOM STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS:
--Haha, the parody of the Spiderman 1970s TV theme is priceless!
--"'Who knows how to tuck her tail into her pants.....and who just happens to appear to have a conspicuously large and conspicuously awesome butt!'" Booyah! Baby (Squirrel) Got Back!!
This is the first Squirrel Girl comic I ever read and it was a hoot. Hey don't knock squirrels. I'm sure the squirrels in my hometown can take on a mountain lion.
Seriously we have Spider-Man so why not have another hero centered around animals? I mean we have King Shark....true, he's a DC character but you get the point.
This comic is just goofy and the art style reminds me of a cartoon of the 90s. The art really does nail the look of a cartoon....I suppose that's true of most comics....
It's a fun little romp with Squirrel Girl taking on Galatucs the devourer of worlds. How does Squirrel Girl deal with a godlike entity? With the help of Tony Stark.....kinda sorta. I dare don't spoil it here.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I borrowed this book from my local library.
So: buy this comic! Unless you hate the author's sense of humor (which you can easily discover for free using the internet).

I ended up reading it myself too and got totally engrossed. We both loved it. Of of the most fun comics I’ve ever read. Must read the rest now! Highly recommended.
