it is all about expectations.
if you are expecting a hip hop Hoosiers, forget it.
if you brace yourself for some slapstick fun and cheesy acting, then this will be a cult classic, especially with your basketball lovin' kids.

i watched it with my ballin' elementry and middle schoolers (the sex humor went over their heads...i hope), now we got an insider language amongst ourselves that we can giggle at...get buckets!!

Better than the Last Season of the NBA

I am admittedly not a big basketball fan. I could care less who has the most RBIs or interceptions. I just love the sound of "GOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!" when a sweet putt lands in the end zone. Imagine my excitement when I saw that noted linebackers and engagement ring buyers such as Shaquille O' Neal were starring in a movie about my beloved basketballs and playing OLD PEOPLE. Old people!!! Monsieur Movie Phone, stop there! You have my money. Old people are the best. By best, I mean the funniest! i mean the craziest ever. I mean the most hilarious folk who have ever eaten bran muffins. I don't even need the pole vaulting action which is lovingly presented. Just give me old folks taking their meds, and then looking confused when they can't recall if they took their meds. So, funny. It's like this one time when I kept hiding my Grammy's teeth. She had me chew up her food for her, and the whole time they were in the toilet tank in a sandwich bag. She never knew!! I forgot about them too. But, at the viewing a year later, I slid them into her mouth. My mom caught me and got real mad, so I haven't left the room in a long time. SO, I've been watching UNCLE DREW so much, but it also makes me sad becasue my Grammy was old, and why did she have to die? Was it the arsenic i put in her coffee? Was it the time I accidentally hit her with my mom's car? My mom said it was just her time, but it was definitely the fire I started that finished her off. Anyway, UNCLE DREW is super cute and funny!! Check it out. Yes, Grammy, I hear you...

Had to have it in my collection! The main reason for the star subtraction is for Amazon not the movie!!!I just wish that Amazine would let me custom arrange my Video Library instead of only offering by date purchased or alphabetical order. I would prefer to arrange by genre, episode, number in franchise so that I could group my movies together instead of having a hodge podge to sort through!

Okay Uncle Drew, I like you now. It took me a while to want to watch this film. I didn't care for the costume makeup nor the trailer. But I liked the idea of NBA vets playing roles in a film. The story is the hook in this film some of the dialogue is a bit funny as well. I did like the cast 'ensemble cast' and the characters they played. But like the movie The Rock and Kevin Hart did, a story about bullying, this one had 2 stories into one. Uncle Drew's legacy and the young coach with a dream.
Watch this one a welcomed surprise.

Maybe more Ball and less Bass?

Uncle Drew is a fun movie, but maybe not a funny movie. The NBA stars to a great job with their senior personas. I found the rest of the non NBA cast rather underwhelming. It has some great clips of Kyrie and the crew performing trick shots, but the first half of the movie still seemed to lack enough bball. The plot and climax are rather predictable but the film is still a fun romp with street ball. And the somewhat generic music was turned up to an almost obnoxious volume level during scene transitions. 3 stars.

Funny, but slightly misleading...

Funny. Had special points to merge generations.

Didn't appreciate the main character (Dax) jumping from one relationship to another and measuring his worth based on his romantic interest (whether good or bad). I thought it would have ended with Uncle Drew being Dax's father - based on the lifestyle presented for Uncle Drew and their mutual interest in the game.

My 11 yr old son loved this movie - the rest of us, not so much. I resisted renting b/c I look at reviews on Rotten Tomato so there was no surprise when this was a dud. Dsn’t matter b/c my son enjoyed it & I’m a spineless doting father that only exists to please his childrens. Thank god I have a nice grill (this is not a metaphor).

I needed to watch a lighthearted, comical film and I AM SO HAPPY I CHOSE THIS ONE. In seeing the advertisement, awhile ago, I laughed and wanted to see more. I am on a budget but wanted a relief, a need to immerse myself in laughter and joy. I was going through my watch list and decided on this one and BOY AM I GLAD I DID!!!!
