Additionally, I became annoyed with the main character in regards to her health situation. The character doubled over in pain on multiple occasions and refused to admit there was a problem. For me, this just added stupidity to Vanessa's list of foolish traits. To have her get snappy and waspish toward people who were just trying to help her when they could see she was in obvious pain just made her seem kind of diva-ish and martyr-like (again, not sympathetic traits for the supposed heroine of the story).
I don't have too many good things to say about the hero either. In my opinion, Brady was kind of bland. Practically from day one, he came on pretty strong, "We haven't seen each other in 12 years, but I still have the hots for you." He was sort of like Pepe Le Pew. Regardless of how many times Vanessa told him she wasn't interested, and despite the inner contemplation from Brady that he knew he would have to go slow to gain Vanessa's trust, he kept coming after her with all the subtlety of Godzilla stomping on Tokyo.
This is definitely not one of Roberts' better titles.
i don't even care about the money i spent on this, I want a refund of my time and investment in this dumb story.
He has become a doctor and has returned to the hometown to partner with his father in their medical practice. The sparks are still there between the two, but she insists on time to determine who she is and where she fits.
I enjoyed the progress of this story and wasn't certain, until the end, of the ultimate outcome.

Vanessa Sexton has been away touring (she plays piano) and is back in her home town Hyattown. while trying to repair the relationship she has with her mum and finding out some secrets along the way she runs into her old flame Brady Tucker, the once reckless boy may have become a solid, dependable man, but to Vanessa He is still the boy who stood her up on the most important night of her life; can she ever trust him again, Brady can't believe she hasn't forgiven him for that night twelve years ago--but he'd had his reasons for not showing up. He'd let her leave town then--but he wasn't going to let her get away this time...
This was a great book to read on holiday or get comfty at home and get stuck in it has great characters and the relationship between Vanessa and her mum is a great side bit to the book, was great to re-read this as its been awhile so some bits are a bit dated (clothes and prices for piano leasons etc) but it doesnt spoil the story .
After his death, Vanessa returns to her home town to find some answers, and it's not easy. Her old boyfriend, Brady, is now a as doctor, and they pick up their relationship again.
