As for Sean and Madison, I really liked them both and thought they had great chemistry. Because of their common "talents' it was easy to understand why they connected so well and so quickly. Their romance basically remained on the back burner though and the main focus was always on the murder mystery. I have to admit the villain kept me guessing, although he/she was always on my list of suspects. On the other hand there's another individual whose culpability was super easy to predict. Still, there was a large cast of characters, most of whom were endearing and a great addition to the tale.
In my opinion HG usually has a better backstory than was found here though. When past and present converge for the finale, I was a bit letdown with the killer's motive which was somewhat weak. I also would have liked learning more about film noir, though the behind-the-scenes look at a special effects studio was pretty cool too. One of the best aspects of this story however was Madison's resident ghost, who just happens to be an icon of the silver screen. In the end it was definitely an intriguing read with just enough twists and turns to keep me flipping the pages, and now I'm ready for the next =)
Pages & Kindle Locations: The story itself contained 285 pages and ended at 94% and location 5524.
Wish a movie could be made from this book. Bogie made popular to new audiences by Disney's Jungle Cruise. Imagine this book with special effects designs and a movie within a movie!
Otherwise, too much skipping around from one place and one character to another and too many plots.
If you like this sort of thing, you will like this book, I wasn't impressed.
It was well written, fast paced, very suspenseful, and very enjoyable. I loved the 2 lead characters, Sean and Madison. Both were equally matched.
Great mystery with a few interesting facts about movies which was enjoyable and very hard to put down. Definitely kept me interested.
