I was recommend this by VortextRadar he has a youtube channel and blog website. for under 150 you can not beat this detector. I could not afford the new top of the line radar detectors that run 400+ so this was the best option
however since it is an older unit flase detections are frequent. I would have gotten the DFR7 with gps lockout but it was an extra 70 bucks for a a few more options i could live without.
Most people would go crazy or tune out the beeps but it keeps me alert. been two months since i bought it and use it for every drive has saved me multiple times.
Occasionally it doesn't detect a cop until late but it is important to remember this is not a cop detector but a Radar detector. the cop has to actively has his radar on for this to pick it up.
With never radars being developed on different frequinces for auto drive systems and the such you should look up a chart for what radar systems your state and the state around you uses so that way a quick glance even with false reports you will know if it is a cop
It's a loud unit
Cord is one of those coiled stretchy ones which get annoying as you can't run the wire without buying a separate wire.
I'll probably run this unt for a few years till I either slow down or have the money to afford a better one.
but best bang for buck is definitely this Uniden DFR6 or DFR7 if you drive city a lot
Also I always have mine set to Highway as I want to be as careful as possible with all bands turned on and only a few filters set up so i get more false alarms than normal. but I'd rather it beep and alert me of a false alarm but also always beep me if i'm being pinged
otherwise great product. i'm not expecting much from a unit that was top of the line 3/4 years ago but it has been worth every penny.
