Great resource!

The ten unique strategies are good. However, I think examples of Buffet and Jobs have been over used in teh past. A part of Jobs's success was also the Unique situation Apple was and the hige investment that came from Microsoft. But, overall, this is a great book.

Good foundational leadership book

This book is great for those intending to hone their leadership skills at the beginner level. It did a great job outlining the need for empathy and high EQ. However, most leaders are going to read this and say "Yep, I know and do all this stuff." Thus, the issue with bad leadership is really that leaders don't know they're bad; that's part of it - the lack of self-awareness that plagues toxic cultures without the leaders knowing. I wish the book delved more into that. Instead, this is another model that someone "fits into." How to get them to see themselves is a different story. I also disagree with the leaders mentioned as those to aspire to. Just because someone build a company and is a billionaire doesn't necessarily make them a great leader. In fact, some of those leaders mentioned are known to have work cultures that aren't the best, or even toxic. I guess that's the subjective nature of leadership. To me, a great leader knows how to get the very best out of PEOPLE, not roles. But, again, this is a great book for those dipping their toe into leadership.

Have you tried to become a leader? No? But if you try to step over in your career, you maybe need some leadership training. What do you think about being first in something and a leader's position? Yes, it's not the same. If someone is the first to do something, it doesn’t automatically qualify them to be a leader. You may become a leader in something even if you were not the first. Good news, isn`t it? There are two important things we forget when we try to do better. The first, is that very few of us are born leaders. It means that all others become leaders. Second, we have to choose our own goals right. I talk about set SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) goals. I have a problem with it.

A Good Solid Resource for Anyone Looking to Improve their Leadership Skills

Leadership is like any other skill. Leadership is not an innate quality but something that can be learned through application of basic principles. This book takes on the role of mentor and core resource for the absolute beginner.
The material covered in this book is solid from the theoretical angle and easy to follow, especially for a reader new to this topic. It won't make you a world leader overnight but, like everything else, if you are put in the effort and follow the directions, your leadership skills will improve over time.

I've read a lot of leadership books and there's usually some hook or gimick. This book isn't like that. It just plainly lays out the basics of good leadership and how to develop good leadership habits. Excellent for beginners or for someone wanting to brush up. Highly recommended!
