im giving it 3 star for plot only..there's somehting off about this series..can't put my finger on it...main problem is he literally misses every single clue in front of him then they all meet and go usually against completly the wrong suspect..eg the pakistani family...they spent half the show chasing up so many wrrong leads it was ridiculous...the writing is full of cliches...the moody cop addicted to his job ...the wife and girlfriend situation was so unbelievable...the girlfriend was such a bad actress..literally spent the whole with one weird wide-eyed expression, hes not much better a look of constipation on his face the whole time so that you never know what emotion hes trying to convey. so many long scenes with way too much space between sentences...talk about slow..the same plot over and over almost...something happens ..they miss every clue till the murderer literally has to stand in front of them ..saying hands up i did it..just really sub par writing..no one ever has a real conversation either...kept thinking it will get better but compared to BECK or WALLINGER it has no chance...i suggest you watch DICTE BORGEN THE BRIDGE thicker than water or the legacy if you want great writing and plot...this wastes so much time going nowhere i kept fast forwardign cause i literally could write what they all about to say...he just didnt have any charisma..was in a constant bad mood and in the ned i just didnt care...

One nasty man
Verified purchase
Starts out okay, but the "hero" soon becomes increasingly unlikable as he punches his girlfriend, plays his ex-wife and girlfriend off against each other, drops the girlfriend but takes her child to raise with his ex-wife, beats and threatens to beat his children, etc. An all-around nasty man and you almost start rooting for the criminals to take him down. The plots themselves aren't bad at all, it's just the lead character's personality that turned me against the series more and more as it progressed.

Not bad

The stories are actually pretty good, with plots that are tantalizing. Lots of surprises in the storylines, not what you or the police are thinking. The acting isn't the greatest, but the scenery is interesting. Why is cop so unkempt? Doesn't he own a comb or a razor or even a bar of soap? He looks like he has been homeless for a couple of weeks and just rolled out of bed on the sidewalk. Except for a handful of characters, no one in this series has a decent haircut and the son Vetle hasn't been in a hair salon since he was six, apparently. No wonder he gets bullied at school.

Have to disagree with the other reviewer. This was a very compelling series. True, the main character might not be Mr. Congeniality, but most of us aren't. I almost didn't watch this because of the other review. That would have been a mistake. Give it a chance.

Realistic
Excellent, very realistic police drama. Kato is not perfect, but who would be after witnessing the kinds of horrific crime that affects an entire community. He is smart and effective in catching criminals. At least in watching this series, justice is served.

Excellent show! The main character is not a nice guy all the time, but I think his character is more realistic this way, considering what he deals with on a day to day basis. It is well written and well acted, interesting and compelling. Hope to see another season!

Crime is ageless and time waits for no one
The whys, the whos, and the hows might change but crime is always relevant, whether now or "dated" from novels writen ages ago, It's about finding the criminal through their behavior. The hows of that might change, as technology excels, but it's never tiring seeing them caught how they're caught. Every contact leaves a trace.

Confusing!
Season 1 episode 6 Cato is remarried to his ex
Episode 7 he's acting single with making a move on a colleague... are these episodes not properly labeled correctly?
