And the worst part is, she knows it’s her own fault. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead, unMarked, and unable to stop bickering with each other. So who can blame her for befriending the House of Night’s newest transfer student, the majorly hot Olympic archer, James Stark?
Meanwhile, Neferet has declared a war on humans after it appears that the People of the Faith have murdered two vampyres. But Aphrodite’s latest visions show a world completely different from the High Priestess’s promises, a world full of violence, hatred, and darkness, all because of Zoey’s deathand the only way it seems she can prevent it from happening is to make things right with her friends. Zoey knows in her heart that fighting with humans is wrong. But will anyone listen to her? Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light, and an ancient evil is awakened in PC and Kristin Cast's spellbinding fourth House of Night novel.

Zoey Redbird is the supreme Mary Sue in a land of Mary Sues. And this book has a lot of Mary Sues. She has a Mary Sue grandma, a Mary Sue potential boyfriend, a Mary Sue best friend, and a Mary Sue cat.
Untamed is so far the best book in the HON series, and no, that's not necessarily a compliment, considering the other three are god-awful, especially Chosen. It's only the best because something happens for a change, other than Zoey making out with boys (but don't worry, that does happen).
Untamed also introduces boyfriend number 4, Stark, who is, if my teenage memory serves me correctly, best boy. He's introduced at the beginning of the novel as a transfer from a different house of night, who had been specifically recruited. That, obviously, means he gonna die. Which he does, in a gloriously bloody, tragic, and angsty way. Of course, I loved watching him die, because reading about main character kissing him as he coughs up blood is just the level of depraved angst that fuels me. So, I did enjoy that bit. What I didn't enjoy about Stark's introduction, is that it literally happens mere hours before he chokes and dies on his own blood. Like, he hasn't even been at the House of Night a single day. In YA land, that is enough, though, for Zoey to hear his tragic backstory about his special Mary Sue archery ability that killed his mentor on accident, and instantly fall in love with him because he's so cool and broody.
The angst doesn't stop there, though, and perhaps Zoey's promiscuous or in her own words "hoish" nature does provide me with entertainment because I find reading about her many boyfriend's suffering to be pretty delicious. Even if it did lead to a very awkward and inappropriate scene with boyfriend number 1, Erik, and Zoey performing an impromptu Shakespeare reading in the drama class that he is now teaching (because drama, of course). The reading of Othello goes off the rails, leading to Professor Erik making with his student in front of his entire class, while choking her out, and them both getting off from it. It's honestly gross even if the angst was tasty. Also the class applauded as if they didn't just watch a fireable offense (if the house of night cared to protect their students). Meanwhile, Erik is still pretty pissed about that whole Zoey cheating on him with the poetry professor (now deceased), leading me to think that Zoey has an authority kink as well as a choking kink.
But we have to check in on boyfriend number 2, Heath, before getting on with the plot (just like the novel itself). Heath is also still mad at the whole Zoey for the cheating on him with the poetry professor thing because it caused him an immense amount of physical pain when she broke their imprint by feeding on Prof Predator. He lets her know that she hurt him which prompts Aphrodite (who is still the best character) to threaten to kill him, despite the fact that Zoey is the one in the wrong (which is par for the course with her. Someone is always bound to defend and enable Zoey's wrongdoing even when she (and in turn the novel) recognize them as bad, there always has to be a detraction from the fact that she could ever commit a wrong). Heath not forgiving her (in this book, because you know he will down the road) is the only consequence Zoey even faces from her poor decision making.
Finally, getting onto the big plot, Untamed had the first REAL climax of the series (and I'm not talking about Zoey and Erik during their Othello scene). Leading up to one of Aprodite's prophecies becoming true and Vampire Satan being raised from his earthly prison by Neferet and the now once again alive Stark and his amazing Mary Sue skills. Also Vampire Satan is really hot. It's important that you know that, I think, because Zoey literally pauses in their escape to tell us that. So now bird-men are slaughtering people but that doesn't matter because Zoey is a very special Mary Sue and this is all apart of her Mary Sue journey.

Okay, this book totally deviated from anything I was expecting, but it was still a good book, and I am waiting eagerly for work to end so I can start reading Hunted.
Zoey: At the beginning Zoey is basically left alone, with no friends except for Aphrodite, this quickly changes when Zoey's friends finally forgive her for lying to them because they realize that she couldn't tell them because she didn't want to put them in danger or allow Neferet to be able to read their minds. Aphrodite sees a vision of Zoey dying, alone because her friends have abandoned her, after Damien, Jack, and the twins hear about this, they instantly band together, and Zoey finally reveals all the secrets she has been hiding from them.
Boyfriends: Blake is dead (as he deserves to be for what he did to Zoey). Heath let's Zoey know in no uncertain terms that it wasn't the imprint that had made him love her, it was the fact that he had loved her since second grade, then he told her that loving her was too hard and he never wanted to see her again, however he does trust her when, at the end of the book she tells him to get underground in his grandpa's celer and take anybody he loves and wants to live with him. Erik sighs finally hears the whole story of what happened to Zoey and decides that maybe he won't hate her, but he won't like her either. He sticks with her until the end and help them escape the Raven Mockers and Neferet & the demon she has released later.
Stark: Sadly, Zoey does not pay enough attention to the Nanny Cam that Jack and Aphrodite help her install to keep an eye on Stark and he ends up under Neferets control as a "red fledgling" and shoots Stevie Ray who "almost dies" again.
Grandma Redbird: The wisdom in this book, she helps Zoey figure out who the Queen is, and what the demon birds (Raven Mockers) and the demon that is "whispering" to Neferet all are. She figures out the poem, and saves a lot of lives by knowing that the earth is all that the demon fears. The Raven Mockers try to kill her, but she is a tough old women and only ends up in the hospital where Zoey put's a nun in charge to watch over her.
In the end Neferet releases the demon, the Raven Mockers become fully bodied, and no longer half spiritual. Neferet kills (we think) the high priestess over all vampires, and we don't know what happened to the house of night. However Stevie Ray, her fledglings, Zoey, Erik, The Twins, Damien, Jack, Aphrodite & her boyfriend, the dog (I can't remember his name) and some of the cats are all their to escape to Stevie Rays underground tunnels, by keeping their circle strong and using the elements to become invisible until they got away from the school.
The only reason I give this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel like the plot is getting bigger and bigger, but not much is being resolved. Each book ends with more questions then answers, but it keeps me reading and curious!
I can't wait to read the next installment! See you all in the House of Night!

The story begins to develop in this book as it moves off from Zoey's personal life to actually having a purpose.
Aphrodite's character becomes more in depth likewise with the rest of them. The voice of Zoey is more mature and it is a much preferred read.
With a few humorous lines in the story to lighten it up this is probably the best so far in the House of Night series. The only annoyance is that things are repeated constantly, such as description of her grandmas use of cherokee words and the twins likeness. This book is a series and is bound to be read in order the need to repeat everything is unnecessary and i did skim read in total of about ten pages of what i didnt need to know.
Using my kindle i just kept clicking to the next page & next page & next page & found myself having read a book & a half in no time. Couldn't put them down. Really interesting characters.
How many books have you read and its all vampires and humans full stop!!!? This one has powers, Indian legends, creatures and a lot more.
Must read & well worth the money. ENJOY!!!
Beautiful intruging plot, now on hunted and believe me I am on the egde of my seat! :0 xx
