As a big fan of the original, I had concerns about the remake, especially in the format of hour-long drama. Half-way through the first season, however, my concerns had vanished. While not as thought-provoking as the original miniseries, the remake is less campy, with much darker villains and more complex plot lines which should enable the writers to keep the stories fresh for several seasons. The dialogue is sharp and fast-paced, similar to the early episodes of The 4400 or The Shield. Multiple story lines raise questions without immediate answers, similar to Lost (before Lost lost its way after season 3). Overall, a highly entertaining, original (even as a remake) show that is completely engrossing when watched without commercials.
