Best In Its Class

Ever since Arthur C. Clarke wrote Childhood's End in 1953, authors producers and directors have been stringing all the mileage out of this theme that they can. We start with "visitors are they friendly?" right up to Demon Baby and the threatened "end of all things." This 2009 series Visitors does it best. They handle the theme of "are emotions a strength or a weakness" very deftly, and the transformation of how humans view The Visitors is pulled off very nicely. There's a nice, edge-of-your-seat crime drama that pulls the pieces together, makes you care about the outcome, and is likely to keep you tuning in.

I'm a Morena Baccarin fan boy. Short hair? OK!

Still the writting wasnt as compelling as I would like. Hard to identify with the characters or feel sympathy beyond the obvious.
Character and plot development over all was eh.

Arrived on time. I was sorry to see this series cancelled. A little different from the original series. It made it more watchable. Loved it.

Not Quite As Good As The Original

However, you can say that about every film (except Godfather II). The series was good and the special effects were great. (This is just the first season remember). The steelbooks are the sets to get. Great collectibles, especially if you can get them at this low a price for an entire season. The only problem was the steelbook had two small dents on the front. (That stuff always irritates me, but now bad enough to send back for a replacement).

I think you'll enjoy this remake and Season Two is also available but for a lot higher price. It also doesn't come in a steelbook. I haven't seen the second season so I can't tell you if it's worth buying or not you'll have to make that decision yourself. However, expect to receive the usual great customer service from Amazon.com. They are always a '5 Star' group.

I liked it ......But!

I watched it on TV when the series ran, but I was not happy with the ending. I was expecting it to continue into another season when it was canceled. Also I had to watch it with the caption turned on because the actors mumble and you don't know what they are saying plus at times the talk too fast. At least the DVD gives you the option to stop the movie and back it up to replay what you missed. When you watch the cut seans the volume was very low. Some of the graphics were real corny, and I'm talking about the tails and teeth. I also think that the writers did not clean up the loose ends in the story, there were a lot of unanswered questions Morena Baccarin is a great actor playing an evil character, she was also good in the Stargate SG-1 Series.

Video on Demand is perfect!

I must express my extreme satisfaction with Amazon's Video on Demand (VOD). Thanks to VOD, I was able to catch the entire 1st season of the 2010 V series, all at just $1.99 per episode. I know what you're thinking: why not just catch the missed episodes for free on abc.com. Well, if you don't catch the missed episodes within a certian period of time, they are no longer on the abc website for viewing. This was the case with me. How happy I was to see that Amazon had the VOD for the V Season 1 series. The quality of VOD is wonderful! No buffering like you would experience with youtube, and the picture quality was superb - crisp clear picture (and this was the regular mode, not HD mode).

As far as the V 2010 Season 1: Only the best series on network TV today!

Excellent remake of a classic
Verified purchase
As a big fan of the original, I had concerns about the remake, especially in the format of hour-long drama. Half-way through the first season, however, my concerns had vanished. While not as thought-provoking as the original miniseries, the remake is less campy, with much darker villains and more complex plot lines which should enable the writers to keep the stories fresh for several seasons. The dialogue is sharp and fast-paced, similar to the early episodes of The 4400 or The Shield. Multiple story lines raise questions without immediate answers, similar to Lost (before Lost lost its way after season 3). Overall, a highly entertaining, original (even as a remake) show that is completely engrossing when watched without commercials.
