I started with the TaoTronics 32-Inch soundbar and it sounded good compared to the TV but not great. I went and bought the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch soundbar so I could do side by side comparison and the Vizio dominated it! The TaoTronics 32-Inch soundbar had a flat sound compared to the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch soundbar. Then I went and got the Yamaha ATS-1080 35-Inch soundbar. It's good, but its not the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch soundbar. The Yamaha ATS-1080 35-Inch soundbar couldn't handle clarity in the highs and it just didn't fill the room like the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch soundbar did.
Since the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch soundbar sounded so good, I figured might as well see what their 5.1 system sound like so I picked up the Vizio SB3651 36" 5.1 system. WOOOOooooWWW. Talk about having a room FULL of warm sound! It's not the BEST system out there, but for $179.99, everyone will think you spend A LOT more. Note for those who do buy the Vizio SB3651 36" 5.1 system, download Visio SmartCast app. You get a lot of settings options to play around with.
If your looking for a great soundbar, pickup the Vizio SB3820 38-Inch. You'll be impressed. If you're looking for that 5.1 feel, grab the Vizio SB3651 36" 5.1 system. Both are winners!
I mounted the sound bar at knee height and I get good room filling sound without loud spots when standing next to it. That makes it good for a party music too.
The wall mounts leave just enough room to run cables behind and into the wall or up to the tv. Adjust the mount buttons a 1/4 turn out until they drop all the way into the cleat without too much force. If they are screwed tightly into the sound bar, they don't want to go all the way in. Only one good sheetrock anchor or stud is necessary per bracket, the other can be a wood screw just barely tightened.
The inputs are a really nice feature too. Both coax digital and optical digital in is a nice touch that others don't have, plus 2 different analog inputs, AND a really good bluetooth connection that connects quickly and sounds as good as any other source.
Without an LCD display, it's a little tricky to get set up, but the manual is good enough. Once set up, the lights are extremely unintrusive. Only 1 dim led remains lit after a volume change to indicate that the unit is powered on.

So, I was stuck between this soundbar and the Vizio 3.0 36" soundbar. The 3.0 was out of stock on Amazon for 1-2 months, so we decided to get this one and see if it will do the trick... and does it ever!
I've read a lot of good reviews for this Vizio 38" soundbar on how everyone bought it for the same reasons I was looking for... something to hear the dialogue better and not break the wallet. I'm so glad I got this as it fixed the problems we were having.
Sure the LED indicators are weird ...but for $135??? This beats a $275 Samsung soundbar by far! Very easy to install too!
Bass is good considering I didn't get the subwoofer. Vocals even better!
Easy to setup too and it comes with everything you need. Sure you might want to get longer cables, but at this price and to include everything (wall mount brackets too), is quite the deal.
Buy this... great price, sounds great .. can't go wrong!!!
Definitely not for audiophiles, or anyone thinking that this can replace a hardcore 9.2 Doubly Atmos home theatre system.
Sound is pretty good really - at this price point no complaints at all. Can't believe the price of some bars out there!
Sound bars by their nature are slim in design so, you're not going to get the full dynamic range of hi-fi speakers with decent size woofers in an enclosure.
Nice little remote.
Bass & Treble control
Stereo & "Surround" mode - Surround mode is actually quite good.
Dedicated bluetooth button on remote.
Lots of connection options with cables included.
Sub Output - Although I don't personally use it.
Included Optical cable is short and thin.
No HDMI input.
No Digital Coaxial input.
Would recommend if you want a significant step up from TV speakers but don't want to drop a ton of cash on one.
The bar is connected by SPDIF to the TV and LFE to the woofer.
An amazing sound cornucopia.
I'm so glad that I took a chance and purchased this.
I can control this with my remotes (both Shaw and LG tv) and it works well. Also the cord came with it so that was nice. I have yet to mount it to the wall but that hardware came with it as well. Overall a good, solid product that I would buy again.
Huge improvement on my LG tv speakers, but cannot compete with a dedicated audio system. The bass is not bad considering the lack of a sub woofer.
The Bluetooth paired easily with my tablet and phone. Took a while to get it to recognize the tv input after being in Bluetooth mode, but that might be a learning curve on my part.
Liked the fact it comes with all the required cables.
First, installation on the wall, etc, is very easy and aided by a template. There are no wall mount screws included, as this would depend on your type of wall. However, my other Vizio came with an overkill of accessories/screws/etc depending on the user's needs.
I am in the process of returning this item as the sound quality is quite bad. I would put it a notch or two above the build in TV speakers, but with far less sound customization possibilities. What also bothered me was that it seemed the volume would fluctuate - at first it was barely discernible but after a while because very obvious and bothersome. I'd rather spend the extra money on a better soundbar - still a Vizio, but a better model - and I suggest you do the same.
The second most annoying feature is the remote with inputs. I switch from aux to digital often. There is no button for each, you have to cycle through them. Since there is a delay between switching between inputs you have to wait a few seconds to see if you’re on the right one. Quite often you’ll hear the audio for a fraction of a second after you’ve pushed the input button to try the next setting.
I want to take this speaker outside and light it on fire.
I never should have doubted it. The Vizio is a well engineered sound bar that is light years better than the silly little tinny sounding speakers that come with your TV.
I used the optical hook up and added my sub-woofer. The sound improved significantly. Voices were clearer and movies had added impact.
If you don't want a 5.1 surround system or just want something better than horrid speakers built in to your tv the Vizio is for you.
It comes with simple clear instructions and most of the cables you'll need. I had mine in place and playing in less than ten minutes.
A quality product that lives up to the hype.
+ Price - amazing for what you get... DTS, Dolby...
+ Sound Quality - it’s not going to match a full 5.1 setup, but it does a good job. If you have a large room, get an external subwoofer. Spend little time to tune the subwoofer phase and frequency. Truvolume sounds fine sometimes, but I have it turned off depending on what I’m watching.
+ Use - I’ve read complaints about the Led lights for controls. Honestly, It’s not a big deal and pretty straightforward. Just read the manual. The vizio TV remote also controls the basic sound bar functions.
- HDMI - missing but I have all devices (cable box, Fire TV, PlayStation, etc) connected into the TV via HDMI with the optical cable back to the sound bar. Simple and works well.
Overall, the sound is pretty good. You can adjust the audio settings with the remote and it travels well. Currently installed in the living room and can hear it from all ends of the house. Tenant upstairs doesn't hear a thing. Connecting to Bluetooth insanely easy but volume adjusting on your mobile device is either too quiet or way too loud. Downside is that every few days I have to physically reset the cables on the device as it will randomly disconnect while in use. Only way to get the sound to return is to reset the cables. Simple 30 seconds but inconvenient.
For $125, I could have found something better and less troublesome I'm sure.
