Romeo and Juliet if they got gaged with a spoon. It’s ok to have guilty pleasures you know you love this movie who cares what other people think. Plus on blu ray it could be a movie made today about the eighties

Valley Girl and 16 Candles encapsulated the eighties more than any other movies...

...and yes, we dressed and talked like that back then... "like totally bitchin' & for real". This was also the movie that first put Nicolas Cage on the map... not even listed as a star of the movie, he was listed as a "supporting actor".

Wanna know what it was like? Watch this movie. The sound track takes you back in time and the wardrobe is right on point. Look at the locations, some that no longer exist. What a marvelous time existed when we all got along and dressed up instead of down. People cared about their appearance and regardless of race we all hung out together and danced to all genres of music. Music was creative and original to say the least. Not what you are forced to listen to these days on the radio. Great story and lots of nostalgia. See it, share it, and keep showing it to younger generations. Maybe they will learn something.

As a Tommy, I felt personally attacked by this movie. Also I loved it anyways, it's so 80s, and you can definitely see why the valley girl impersonation exploded in popularity after this movie's release! Just try to count all the "God!", "Totally!" and "Like!" that you hear throughout the film. The movie even acknowledges and makes fun of it at one point haha. Overall I had a lot of fun watching this, it's a classic romance / coming-of-age that anyone can relate to even all these years later.
