The Vampire's Fake Fiancée (Nocturne Falls Book 5) Kindle Edition
The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Sebastian Ellingham isn’t known for being a happy vampire. And when his long estranged wife returns expecting to pick up where they left off, things take a sharp turn toward cranky. Sure he’s been protecting her for centuries, but her assumption that he’s still available (he is) rankles.
His answer is to hire a woman to play his fiancée. The lucky victim is Tessa Blythe, sister of one of the town’s deputies, librarian in need of a job and, oh yes, reluctant Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian is all about the end game: earning the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy.
When unexpected sparks fly between them, they agree to mutually deny the attraction. Fate, however, has other plans…

Sebastian Ellingham, the vampire, is basically a Mr. Darcy. He’s cranky, keeps to himself, and takes responsibility seriously. He’s got a big heart yet no one in his family truly understands him and his estranged wife takes advantage of him.
Tessa Blythe, the Valkyrie and librarian. She’s given up on her protective powers. She loves her books, all things intellectual, and the quiet life. Her sister is a deputy sheriff in Nocturne Falls and convinces Tessa in moving to town.
What started out as a job interview ends up with her sister setting her up to act as the fake fiancée for Sebastian, so he can get his estranged vampire wife to sign divorce papers.
I adored Sebastian and Tessa. Their relationship was funny and sweet. They ended up helping each other heal from past experiences. They also helped each other find what was missing in their lives. The romance is a sweet one. I also loved how Tessa ends up being his fake fiancée. Now for the estranged wife. She is a piece of work and boy does she cause problems and drama.
“They were a perfect fit, the recluse and the bookworm. The weapons collector and the sword wielder. The vampire and the valkyrie.”
The Vampire's Fake Fiancée was a fun read. The plot is fun, the characters are unique, and the supernatural world is enjoyable. This story is perfect for a summer read or a rainy day.
Rated: 4 Stars
Sebastian Ellingham knew she would return some day and he is willing to take her back. After all, Evangeline is his responsibility. However, he is going to make her realize first that, if he wanted to, he could go on living without her. To do this, Sebastian hires Tessa Blythe to be his fiancée. She is the sister to one of the town’s deputies, a librarian in need of a job, and a Valkyrie. Playing along with Sebastian will help her earn the position of Dean of Library Studies at the local private academy. But spending time with Tessa makes him realize just how deeply he was suffering at Evangeline’s hands. Not to mention that the pretending is becoming all too real.
***** FIVE STARS! Author Kristen Painter writes a clean supernatural romance. No hot bedroom scenes here. Yet she does not skimp on plot content or romance. This time around, the author has included a delightfully mischievous kitten and a wonderfully astute rook/butler. It all boils down to being one of the best romances that I have had the pleasure of reading all year. *****

Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS*****
Wow! I absolutely love it! The Vampire's Fake Fiancee is the fifth release in the delightfully entertaining and superbly written Nocturne Falls Series by Kristen Painter, and it is absolutely delicious. The series is a paranormal romance based on all manner of supernatural beings who live and work among humans in a town named Nocturne Falls where it's Halloween every day of the year. And they celebrate it big time since it's the town's main source of income. How could you not love it with names like The Scream Shop, Hallowed Bean, Howlers, The Poison Apple, Illusions, Insomnia, Ever After, Mummy's Diner and The Black Rose D & B (*snicker* a Dead and Breakfast rather than a Bed and Breakfast *giggle*), and that's only a few of the establishments in this wonderful town Painter has created for us. And since this story takes place in January, the town just finished celebrating New Scare's Eve instead of New Year's Eve. (*snort*) This woman's talent and imagination are just off the charts! She's bloody brilliant! And did I mention it's located in Georgia. Oh yes, and I live in Georgia which makes me love it even more, not that I need another reason because there are plenty of reasons to love this book solely on its own merit. The story is exceptionally well crafted, well executed, well edited and well developed. The characters are engaging, endearing and outrageously, laugh-at-loud funny. It's sweet, cute, exciting, imaginative, humorous and romantic with just the right amount of danger, intrigue and suspense. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without a little dollop of angst. I first became hooked on Kristen Painter's work when I read The Vampire's Mail Order Bride which was the first release in the Nocturne Falls Series and the rest, as they say, is history. I was totally addicted for life! This is a standalone novel and I feel I must warn you, it does include a lovely happy ending. I don't want to give anything away but I will say that it does include vampires, valkyries, witches, werewolves, were-panthers, gargoyles, fae and all manner of creatures we all know and love, including an irresistibly cute kitten named Duncan and a very meddlesome vampiress grandmother. I also must caution you - it does contain a lovely, courageous but very shy heroine who just happens to be a librarian, chocolate lover and a valkyrie. Yep, a sword wielding, shield maiden valkyrie! Oh my Odin! It also includes a handsome, wealthy and very reclusive male vampire hero who already has one wife too many (kinda, sorta - technically, but they've been separated for 300 years) but is determined to never fall in love again. And last but not least, a very selfish, completely spoiled and totally evil, not-quite-wife, vampiress villain who returns to Nocturne Falls under the premise of wanting to reclaim her estranged husband and rekindle their...uh...non-existent relationship. Hmm....I do believe I smell a rat! So don't say I didn't warn you, because when the quiet, reserved Tessa Blythe comes to Nocturne Falls to apply for the position of Dean of Library Studies at Harmswood Academy, she proves to the brusque, stubborn Sebastian Effingham that first impressions can be quite deceiving. Sebastian soon learns you should never judge a book by its cover or by her sword. Let's just say that the little mouse has claws! Sparks fly, chocolate is served and Nocturne Falls may never be the same again. The very boring and uptight Sebastian never even knew what hit him! Oh my! Did I say I loved it? Well, I may have mentioned it, but just in case, I love it! I'm ready for Book Six in this enchanting series. Once you start reading this book, you simply cannot put it down. This book does NOT contain profanity nor explicit sex but it is just dreamy! I have been patiently waiting for Sebastian's story and Kristen did not disappoint! It was worth the wait! Now, Kristen Painter, it's time for Julian's story! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!!!

Five books in and this story takes you back to the beginning with another of the Ellingham Brothers (vampires) as the male main character and Valkyrie filling the role of female main character.
Although Tessa the Valkyrie is new to the series, her sister has featured in the novels as a background character from day 1, so she's not entirely unknown.
Both main characters come with a lot of baggage, Sebastian Ellingham's is in the form of his estranged first wife, while Tessa's is a past she'd rather forget. Put them all together in one book and there's no room for secrets from anyone. I was completely rapt while reading this story
As with most paranormal romance novels, you set out knowing you're going to get the 'happy ever after' you crave, but what you don't know is how many emotional ups and downs the author is going to put you through before you get there. And Kristen Painter excels at taking her readers on a marvelous journey.
I am completely enamoured with this series, I love that it's fresh, good fun, not sexually explicit, there's no swearing, and all bar the werewolf romance in book two (for obvious reasons) each novel so far has included a cat in some form or another, appealing to my inner-crazy cat lady.
I've already downloaded book 6, and after that it's onto the novella's. Not to mention joining Kristen Painter's website for news of when the next book will be released.
Highly recommended to paranormal romance readers. A wholesome vampire valkarie love story.
However, this is one of the romances.
We have a vampire and he needs to pretend he is going to marry - so he advertises and then things become real. Nice romance.
