To gain information, Isaac broke into a witch’s home and grabbed her. He took her to the cave he would be living in while he dealt with this situation, as he was now the temporary vampire leader. He was curious why his body felt so shocked just from holding her as he ran to the cave at vampire speed. She stared at him, but not fearful as he expected. He was sure she was using magic on him and he bellowed in anger. But her shock came from knowing him, remembering his horrible car accident and how she and others tried to save him. She hadn’t known he was still alive.
He told her he needed information from her about what the witches planned in retaliation. But she told him she was sort of an outcast and they did not tell her their plans. Instead, she was attracted to him, the object of her long ago school-girl crush. She wanted him. Would she be able to convince him that they needed each other? Would the hostilities among the paranormals erupt and make them enemies, forced to choose sides?
First, the book really needs an editor, mainly due to incorrect words, extra or missing words, wrong verb tense, and misspellings throughout. But ignoring that, which I assume will be corrected at publication, the story itself was pretty good. The inner conflicts among the characters really brought out their qualities. And Isaac and Winter completed each other in a very good way. It made the reader hope for a future for them. I do recommend reading this book for its engaging story. I voluntarily reviewed this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.
For me this book is okay. It's not that great and there really isn't anything to make it really engaging or stand out for me which is disappointing. I am an avid fan of paranormal romances and of where relationships between "species" is forbidden because there is distrust, anger or superiority but for me this story really falls short. The story feels a bit rushed regardless of there supposedly being some prior interest one part of the two characters involved. The story needs a bit of fleshing out to really make it something a bit more engaging.
