The Viper and his Majesty Kindle Edition
This book is for mature audiences. Reading discretion is advised.
Dominic ‘Viper’ Martinez knows nothing about walking the straight and narrow. As a notorious Miami-born Cuban gang member, his life has been rife with ups and downs, many of those years spent behind steel bars. Yet, he came out the other side dripping in gold and black, like his Latin King colors. Money and survival are all he has on his mind, until a sexy, headstrong woman moves into his neighborhood and causes ample distraction…
Majesty Wilson is tired. She’s tired of lies. She’s tired of the disrespect at her job. She’s tired of no-good-men who see cheating as a way of life. Raising her nine-year-old son solo has been the most difficult job she’s ever had, but her love for her child drives her to make a better life for the two of them. After moving into her new home, she comes face to face with King Viper. Repulsion and fear surface, yet sparks fly between them. Fangs out, he threatens to sink them deep into Majesty but perhaps, for her only, his bark is louder than his bite.
Dominic has never encountered a woman like Majesty, and her unexpected presence causes a storm to brew. He has one foot in Heaven and the other in Hell, but he can only serve one Master. Will that Master be the love or hate?
Immense obstacles, shocking secrets from the past, and devastating blows lay at the feet of the couple, demanding their attention, and testing their resolve.
Majesty is tough, but Dominic melts the ice around her heart. Can she trust a man who has spent his days mostly doing the Devil’s work? Will he behave like his namesake, the snake that would strangle their love by winding his sins around it, thus snuffing it out, once and for all?

This author doesn't write about the sweet beta male; you know, the guy with the squeaky clean past, upstanding job and stellar parents. No, her male characters are definitely raw, gritty and at times rude, but I love them. Not because they are rude but I love them because they are honest and don't have time to play mind games. This is the kind of man Viper is; he doesn’t sugarcoat his lifestyle or try to make you feel comfortable about it. He definitely knows he wants better for his lady and those he loves, therefore he strives to be better.
Oh, let me not forget Majesty, she’s a woman who rarely gets featured in stories, and if she does, she’s so broken down that she practically runs a good decent man away because he may have a few flaws or because he's not perfect according to some list she has written. Majesty is hard-working, loving, wise and caring. She knows not to surround herself with people who don't really care for her or who don't have the desire to see her do better in life. She doesn't really want a man like Viper but when she sees that he's not like anything she thought he was she opens up to him. Great story - and you know it must be great if I wish it within a few hours of its release.
Anyway Dom/ Viper is the most ghettoest of ghetto hood heroes penned by TL yet. Her alpha men are spiraling outta control with challenged linguistic skills, love of their material possessions and blinged out cars, diamonds on every finger and neck. So we’re to believe this BW forgoes common sense and gets with a jailbird.
Who’s attracted to these dudes? Ink covering face and entire body… I love a tatted up guy but prison tats are a different level of ugly. Fans suspend belief while catching up on fantasy but some authors forget that their readers (some) believe this stuff and are looking to get rescued by the Dominics of the romance bk world - the handsome, rich, smart, very straight, nonviolent xcon.
Dominic is a nice enough hero and sweet to Majesty, and Majesty is a likable heroine but why doesn’t the author ever let them LOL like normal people w/ out saying the H/h tried to hide it? Had everyone stifling laughter. This was every time her son said something funny. I found that very strange.
What’s getting harder to endure are the Hero/ h longwinded, boring introspections or their supposedly deep convos - pages and pages and pages of it. Especially when the character says “let me ask you something” get ready. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.
There’s no real interesting plot idea in this book.
I’ll have to keep on reading TL until the magic is recaptured.
TNW, FMFFIHL, SAINT Series, TSMS, IWC, IMSS, CC I & II..… and the list of her earlier brilliance is endless. I’ve got over 50+ TL bks, not counting some anthologies so I know my argument is legit.
