Viral Kindle Edition
On a remote planet, human explorers make first contact with extraterrestrial life. Without warning, the aliens attack, ripping the exploratory team to shreds. Humanity is at war.
Back on Earth, Sam is just another jobless graduate, drifting aimlessly while she lives off of the government's monthly stipend. When war breaks out with the aliens, she sees a way out of her life of boredom: she signs up to be a "deathstreamer," a new breed of mercenary chasing fame and fortune by streaming combat footage from the front lines. If she can go viral, wealth and celebrity are within Sam's grasp. But she'll need to survive long enough to enjoy it.

The biggest thing I can say about this book is WOW! It’s unbelievable and amazing. It resonates with society nowadays. I mean with some people it's all about video games, VR, and social media. Times haven’t changed much! So this book fits right in.
I didn’t really understand why it was decided to go to war with the Ocho’s. So, they attacked the drone. And to annihilate all of them on every planet we can find them on? But, that's just my thoughts.
I enjoyed the ending immensely. To find out something so important that changes everything is always a pivotal moment. I hope Mr. Platt continues the series so we can find out more. But either way, I quite enjoyed his book once again.
I could continue to write a gushing review, but then who would continue to read it. So, I will include the very few things that made me go “hmmm.” As with any work of fiction, especially science fiction, an occasional leap of faith or willingness to suspend disbelief will be required, but this does not detract from the story or the enjoyment. I found no true negatives on which to comment. However, there were some moments which had the unfortunate effect of ripping me out of the story and back into reality (which was unfortunate because I enjoyed losing myself there for a while). They simply reminded me I was reading a work of fiction, for example: every character – I mean every character – was described as a different race, ethnicity, and/or sexuality; however, I rationalized, this was much more likely in the global, corporate world described. Again, I would not categorize this as a negative, just an oddity of sort. In fact, SOME of this truly added to the story (such as the relationship between the two main characters), and it is only worth mentioning because if dialed down just a little it would not have had the effect it did. The only other moments occurred when pausing to consider the aliens and the science around them. But, I found even these aspects (much of which is revealed toward the end) thought-provoking and original (at least for me). The ending could have been a little better, but it was more than acceptable, original, and interesting.
This is a five star book. I have begun to follow this author and have already acquired a few more of his books. If I had to summarize in brief: I was there. Well done Mr. Platt.
The fighting and strategy are spot-on, along with the technology used throughout. Friendships come and go, but the comradery built in combat situations is for life! Zoe finds this out in spades!
I look forward to more of Zoe's story!!
