Rafael (Raf) Rodriguez is quite the ladiesman. Because of his father's past he avoids relationships but there's just something about Erin Arthur that just about consumes him but he's fighting his attraction due to his brother, Shane. Whom Raf thinks is in a relationship with Erin.
Erin has moved to town after her grandmother shows signs of dementia. After her parents divorced, Erin spent every summer with her grandmother.
Shane has a fall at one of their company's roofing jobs and is in the hospital unconscious so Raf isn't able to talk to him about his relationship with Erin. The more time Raf spends with her the harder it is to fight his attraction. unfortunately the Rodriguez family has all some to the same conclusion as Raf about Erin's relationship with Shane.
I love how the two Rodriguez family's entertwine. These two strong women should of hated each other and instead they became their own unique family who draws Erin in.
This is a warm well written read that I fully enjoyed.
Erin Arthur's life was the opposite of the Rodriguez clan. Her parents divorce, remarried and started other families and often forgot all about her. However, her grandmother loved her most and she would come to Sawyer's Beach every summer to be with her. Now, however, her grandmother is showing the beginning signs of dementia, has been moved into a facility and Erin has moved into her Grammy's cottage and is now working at a local winery. She meets Shane while working on a community food drive. Shane feels sorry for her being all alone and also thinks she would be perfect for his brother, but falls off the roof on one of their job sites and is in a coma. The family makes assumptions, Erin falls in love with them, but in particular with Raf, who is so afraid of being his father that he tries unsuccessfully to fight their attraction. The book reminded me a lot of the movie While You Were Sleeping. Wonderful characters, great family story, humorous writing, entertaining read.
I read an ARC from the author as part of her review crew. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Erin has the hots for Raf even though they have only encountered each other a few times. She is drawn to him and doesn't know why and wants to find out.
Erin and Shane are working together for a food fundraiser and are friends, but Shane's family thinks otherwise. And the two don't really seem to correct them.
Shane gets in a horrible accident at work and is in a coma for a week. Raf and Erin become closer and guilt sets in for Raf that he has fallen in love with his brother's girlfriend. Erin falls hard for Raf and runs away from them. She is not ready for that or so she thinks.
Can Raf and Erin works things out? Will Shane wake up and help set the record straight about his and Erin's relationship or lack there of. Can these two find their happily ever after together? The one that never felt like she belonged and was always forgotten and the handsome playboy who has a reputation?
Loved reading Raf's and Erin's story. I can't wait for the next one!
Then these two have such different family histories that they almost seem like opposites. However, their views on loyalty and family are right in line with the other’s. Raf’s family drama and sibling’s accident puts the stress on Raf as well as Erin’s grandmother’s health does on her. No wonder these two irresistible characters never have the honest believable conversation that is needed or is it that Raf can’t listen for all the talk going on in his head.
Great story with the loner of the poker group. Only two more guys to go. It’s time for Shane to get his HEA. Wonder if Raf will play matchmaker for him!
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
