Krister Henriksson, A Real Wallander
Verified purchase
Krister Henriksson brings Wallander alive for me. Sometimes I feel like he's speaking English, even as I read the subtitles because his face register so much emotion. With the slightest quirk of an eyebrow, you know this policeman is skeptical of a suspect's fabricated story, even before you read the words below. I had watched the English actor in one Wallander mystery and enjoyed it because I just like mysteries, but he seems to play the character as an absent-minded professor. After awhile his acting conveys bewilderment instead of focus. Henriksson never goes off bumbling. He is serious and professional, making the detective in the story believable,as well as entertaining. Thank goodness I discovered the Swedish version of Wallander.

Classic whodunnit but not classic Wallander

This story is complicated and the ending a surprise but the episode is very much like a classic Agatha Christie story where there are X suspects in a room and the detective goes through the reasoning before identifying the killer. There are some interesting false leads to keep the interest piqued but ultimately the fine acting if the lead character is wasted on an over-involved denouement.

This episode was much better than episode 9, which was essentially a soap opera. Episode 10 returns to the essential weirdness of the series, with a cast of unlikeable suspects doing what real people do. It was apparent fairly early who the murderer really was, but the episode was more a psychological exam of the killer and the rest of the cast. I thought the season was winding down to end with a whimper, but now I'm encouraged.

Great Wallander Episode

This was a great episode, well worth the money. I think Krister Henriksson is fantastic as Wallander, and Johanna Sallstrom (playing his daughter "Linda") is also wonderful. I have watched all of series 2, most of series 1 and am waiting for the final third series to air. Great program, nothing like it here.

Love the Swedish Wallander series

My wife and I love to stream the Wallander shows. We feel the Swedish version is definitely superior to the British retread, and you get an interesting peek at Swedish culture. However, having to pay $5 per show is annoying; it seems a little high

Yes, it's painful to pay this much! But I'm an addict!

Amazon is the ultimate drug pusher. These Swedish Wallander episodes are so perfect, so engrossing, and I love the scenery and characters so much, that I'll pay way more than I should on my low-income budget. Shame on you, Amazon! You got me hooked!

Utterly Brilliant Drama with Piercing Embedded Social Commentary

All the multifarious elements that mark the preeminence of Swedish Wallander are present here and orchestrated in something akin to a pure Platonic form.

HBO and BBC productions can only aspire to producing a similar achievement.

truly fine!

Best combination of mystery, cop story, and artistic drama I've ever seen. Way better than Foyle's War, and almost up there with The Wire.
