Hi there!
Thank you so much for looking at one of my books and a very warm welcome to two gorgeous Yorkshire settings: Whitsborough Bay on the North Yorkshire coast and Hedgehog Hollow on the Yorkshire Wolds.
I write uplifting stories of love and friendship. You’ll meet some new friends who’ll raise a smile and perhaps draw a few tears. I adore my characters so, if you do find yourself reaching for the tissues, don't worry because I promise I will never leave them without a heartwarming happy ending.
All my books work as complete standalone stories but some are part of a series and others are connected. The Welcome to Whitsborough Bay series and the Hedgehog Hollow series are best enjoyed when read in order and, if taking a trip to Castle Street at Christmas, I’d recommend Christmas at Carly’s Cupcakes before Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Café.
I hope you decide to dive in and that you enjoy your visit to Yorkshire. Thanks again for looking.
Big hugs, Jessica xx

About the author

A warm welcome to my author page! Thank you for visiting.
I live in Scarborough on the stunning North Yorkshire Coast in the UK. My home inspired the creation of the fictional seaside town of Whitsborough Bay where I set some of my books. The Hedgehog Hollow series takes readers to a gorgeous countryside setting on the Yorkshire Wolds.
I live with my husband, our teenage daughter and sprocker spaniel, Ella. I'm a stationery addict with a notepad obsession who loves chocolate (although it doesn't love me), hedgehogs, 80s music, collectible teddy bears and lighthouses.
My career has mainly been in HR as a trainer and recruiter. I had a brief detour into retail to set up and manage my own specialist teddy bear shop and started writing my debut novel on quiet days in the shop.
In June 2020, I became a full-time author. I'm so very grateful to anyone who has bought or borrowed my books in whatever format, helping me fulfil a long-held dream of writing full-time. I still can't believe I get to spend every day chatting to my fictional friends and making stuff up.

I was drawn in to the new character Phoebe, her story is one sad tale. The research was excellent, the storyline sadden me. Another lost soul for Sam to help. The fact, (spoiler alert), that she is relative by marriage to the Grimes family added intrigue, but also added to profound sadness. I was surprised that with all the trauma this very young person faced that she found time to figure out she was gay. I am not sure if it was written in such a way to provide another bit of sadness to the character or to provide another story line for the next book.
I was surprised that so many people in this young girls life were mean, including one that I though was her support system.
Sam’s cousin Chloe and Sam’s Mother are back, each added more stress to Sam, who is already suffering from PTSD. I like Sam was hoping for a happy ending for her beloved father. I presume that will be addressed in another book.
There are many moments of pure joy for Sam, and I hope you enjoy the wedding and venue.
The spirit of the Community does leave a wonderful peace in your heart especially during the holidays. I hope the next book comes quickly, there’s so much more I want addressed. Looking forward to Lauren’s story line, and would love a bit more on Sam’s good friends.
I hope you enjoy the continuation of Sam’s journey at Hedgehog Hollow. Hats off to Ms. Redland, you have left this reader wanting more.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of books so far ( I am hoping for a 5th); I love the characters, the wonderful community of Hedgehog Hollow, learning about the hedgehogs and each book's touching storyline.
As with many of Jessica's books, there is hope, anguish, laughter, sadness, love and spirit, with plots that flow and keep your interest right to the last page.
I happily recommend this series, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.
I want to thank NetGalley, Boldwood Books and author Jessica Redland for a pre-publication copy to review.
Hedgehog Hollow (4 Book Series)

No:2 New Arrivals at Hedgehog Hollow
No:3 Family Secrets at Hedgehog Hollow
No:4 A Wedding at Hedgehog Hollow
Available in all good book stores, online or in-store.

The 4th in the Hedgehog Hollow series, this one is a dual perspective between the lovely Samantha and her college student work experience accountant Phoebe.
Through the book we get a new (and wholly unpleasant) insight into the aptly named Grimes family, and many of the well-loved (and sometimes disliked) cast from the previous books are back.
As always, Jessica's tales are well written, with engaging characters and stunning scenery. Every time I enter the Hedgehog Hollow world, I long to be able to sit on Thomas' bench and look across the beautiful wildflower meadow with a hot chocolate in one hand and a book in the other. Bliss!
The book ends on Samantha and Josh's wedding day, with a gasp moment at the end rather than the huge cliffhanger at the end of book 3. I like this aspect of the series - each book ends with a glimpse into the next one. As if I needed any more incentive to pre-order the next in the series! Book 5 cannot come soon enough and is already pre-ordered!

Once again this wonderful author has transported me to the hollow and I felt as if I was one of the characters.
This book, like the others in the series, has some emotional parts and this book particularly you really feel for Pheobe and Darcie and the things they've been put through. But as always the lovely Samantha and Josh to the rescue.
Poor Samantha still suffers with her PTSD from the previous emotional situations that have happened throughout this series but she's an amazing person and to have Josh by her side and Fizz and all of the other volunteers at Hedgehog hollow seems to hold her up when she's struggling.
I am still not a fan of Chloe but she redeems herself a little through the book and the surprise for the wedding is just beautiful.
Another brilliant book by Jessica. I thoroughly enjoyed being at Hedgehog hollow again and I will recommend this series to anyone.

Things never seem to run without chaos and drama for Samantha, but she keeps on smiling. She never stops and it is starting to take its toll on her in the form of panic attacks. This is all thanks to the estranged family of the previous owner Gwendoline affectionately known as the Hedgehog Lady who sadly never lived to build the rescue centre. Thomas her widower left Samantha the task of fulfilling their wishes. The Grimes are hellbent causing her grief
Samantha goes out of her way to show kindness to all. She has a complicated relationship with her mother and we found out why in previous books but will they ever have a relationship?
Samantha has found her forever person in Josh and they are planning their nuptials. Is this finally her time when everything aligns? Of course not a shy nervous student Phoebe is taken on to do the accounts. Samantha cannot fathom why she cannot get through to Phoebe as she is a closed book. The clue is when finds out her surname Grimes!!!
Sam checks her bank having become complacent because her random checks have been excellent, well £30K is missing, has Phoebe been working with the Grimes or is the real reason so much darker?….

This instalment brings us up to date with all at Hedgehog Hollow, in it we find out Phoebe’s story in particular. Sometimes warm, oftentimes shocking and very raw, Jessica leaves us in no doubt just what has led Phoebe to this point in her life.
As usual, the author has handled sensitive issues with compassion and a sense of knowledge gained from careful research. There is a sense of realism in the telling, which draws the reader in.
I highly recommend the entire series to readers. But beware: you will become addicted to protecting hedgehogs!
