Editorial Reviews

"...a cross between Stephen King and the Twilight Zone... pretty intense drama. A surprise around every corner."
"...[an] edge of your seat adventure, really turned my head around."

"Welcome To Parkview, absolutely amazing.Great storyline and definitely a good read for any ghost / vampire fans. I'mnot a spoiler alert kind of reviewer so I will leave it at this, the book willnot only intrigue you, but scare you. Very scary and very entertaining, I woulddefinitely recommend to everyone. And trust me, this is not your typical walkinto a deserted town kind of horror story, it is far more entertaining andbrilliant than your average horror story. Great read, definitely get it!"

From the Author

A historyon the town of Parkview:

Before Istarted the literary construction of Parkview, I had already completed 19 shortstories between 1988 - 1991 (I was in Junior High at the time). I would staplethe pages together when I was finished with each one, and I hand drew frontcover artwork before passing them around to classmates and family members toread.
Then Iread my very first Stephen King novel,
TheDark Half. It was the first time that an author grabbed my attention andnot just a book. After going back and reading everything that he had written upto that point, I started to forget that the town of Castle Rock, Maine thatalmost all of his stories takes place in was fictional. I remember not only howmuch fun I had reading a brand new Stephen King novel but also the comfort ofreturning to a place that was so familiar at the same time. So, back in 1991 Idecided that I would stop writing all these random stories and create my ownversion of Castle Rock... I named my town Parkview, and the first place that Ibuilt was the local bar, named Sneakers.
I decided to build the city of Parkview in my home state ofMassachusetts, and more specifically in the area of the state that I was bornand raised in; a region unofficially called the North Shore. The Parkview talesshould not be read out of order or as "stand alone" short stories. This istechnically a novel where the sum is greater than its parts.  They were written with the idea that you weregetting a "tour" of my town; running into people multiple times in differentplaces, all in a very specific chronological order.
I wrote about all the different people and places ofParkview between the years of 1991 and 2002, without any real concrete idea ofwhat I was going to actually DO with these stories, or within the town I hadstarted to feel so comfortable. Then in 2002 I took a break from writingaltogether. That hiatus lasted until January, 2006 when I started work on myfirst novel,
Dreams Are UnfinishedThoughts, which was released on October 16, 2007. I realized that I missedthe little town that I had created, and longed for all the people in it; maybeit was time to finish their story.
I returned to the place I felt most comfortable, but I alsoknew that it was time to say goodbye to my town. Being able to compile all theevents that brought Parkview to life into one book is really a thrill for me.As great of an experience it has been to write about Parkview over the last 19years, I also know it is time to stop being selfish and let everyone else takea guided tour through a town that is filled with deceit, murderers, lovers, transients, temptation, and maybe a vampire or two lurking in the shadows...

Brian Paone, a Massachusetts native, has been a published author since 2007. Brian has, thus far, released seven novels: “Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts”—a memoir about befriending a drug-addicted rock star; “Welcome to Parkview”—a macabre cerebral-horror novel; “Yours Truly, 2095”—a time-travel romance novel (which was suggested for a Hugo Award, though it did not make the finalists); the “Moonlight City Drive” trilogy—a supernatural crime-noir series; and “The Post-War Dream”—a historical war fiction novel.

Brian currently lives in Fort Belvoir, VA with his wife—a Commander in the US Navy—and their four children. He is a retired police officer and worked in law enforcement for sixteen years from 2002 - 2018. He is a self-proclaimed rollercoaster junkie, a New England Patriots fanatic, and his favorite color is burnt orange. And, in 2019, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming the proud owner of a 1981 DeLorean!
