This is now my favorite book in the series! I loved all the action, it just never seemed to stop. I also liked Oriel and I'm hoping that he sticks around for a while, Erin deserves some happiness. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series and I hope it comes out soon!
I struggled a bit because of the change in the circumstances and the resulting change in the MC’s MO.
This is also a tough book because it essentially is setting up the next book. There is no end to a particular story. The novel ends on a down note.
I would still recommend reading this book if you enjoy the writing. My argument would be that this book is largely unnecessary to the story.
This is not bad writing, to be clear. If anything, it is bad editing. The previous novels had a standard cycle of growth for the MC and her world. This feels like half of a book.
I will *still* buy the next book. It is an interesting world and the novels are well written.
I really, really like this series and hope there are many more to come !
I love Erin's lack of restraint in defending her friends and her strong restraint in holding back with the secrets she keeps close to her chest. And I really like that she had a love interest this time. I have to admit, I kept thinking he would betray her. And I love the camaraderie of all the characters who use Rosie's as a home base.
Another great book in the series. Can't wait for book 5, Knights of Magica.
This had lots of action, lots of new characters making an appearance, and some bad guys getting what they deserved with others I am sure yet to come. Most of the crew make an appearance, some more than others. The numbers of the enemy are enormous and the odds don't look good, but they manage to hold their own for the most part.
Erin may finally have a love interest that could last, at least for a while. Being half Fae, Oriel has powers that certainly back her up when fighting but his view of humans and life could eventually make way for serious issues. Love is definitely a huge risk there. I appreciated their fight scenes along with their humor.
For someone who wishes she were just a bartender, with a dream of being an architect, Erin just can't manage it, not yet. She has to fight to protect the new friends she has grown to love as a family. And hope they are strong enough to survive.

The Knights Magica are a cross between a militant religious order and something like Optus Dei\the Inquisition, with "convert them or kill them" manifesto.
And they want to do it all in public, and get magic out in open, then controlled, and registered. And ultimately magic is to be legally contained within the church, and authorised for use by the church alone. Who would then have the means for world dominance and control.
Needless to say the disparate elements of the hidden otherworld begin to ally and fight back.
