Jackson was the only person Charlie felt comfortable enough to reveal her secrets to, but that did not come easy for her. Not only did Charlice have secrets, but her whole family also did and she knew them all and kept them all. Only to find out that secrets are like a cancer in the soul. They eat away what is good and leave only destruction behind when revealed, and boy did they ever come out like a bomb to the Jefferies family.
Even though those secrets exploded like a bomb, they also helped to unite the family as well and draw Charli and Jackson closer to each other. Even her cousins were willing to make sure that Charli and Jackson got their complete HEA. For the first time in Charli's life, she knew what real love of a man felt like with Jackson and understood what her Grams said about love, "that love has a way of catching up to you. You can run from it all you want, but sooner or later, it comes for you. The more you fight it, the harder it takes over you.” Now, Charli cannot imagine life without Jackson. Duck and Bubba surrendered to the fight when love took them down their own road to their HEA.
While I thought Charlice's promiscuity was a bit over the top, I enjoyed the story anyway. However, as more than one commenter pointed out, the spelling, word use, punctuation, grammar, and inconsistency were all distracting. A good editor, proofreader, or even some time spent with Grammarly could have made this book outstanding.
This lady had secrets... hers and everyone else's. Charlice took me through all she went through; her family.... wow, her family. This book took me through the wringer... my emotions were blown, my tears were abundant, my love tank was overflowing. What a great read!!!
I enjoyed how the author explored interracial dating...it wasn't cheesey and horrible like a lot of interracial romance. Some authors make the relationship feel like the characters are from a different species instead of it being skin color and small cultural differences. She did great job of showing we are more alike than different. I especially liked Charlice's speech to her family about choosing to date outside her race.
There were some grammatical errors that seemed to increase as the book continued. Other than that the premise, the plot , and character development was very good. I personally like a little more scene development in the 'bedroom parts' but they were ok. Well done I really enjoyed this book.
