My (almost) 5 year old loves this book. We read 4 or 5 poems together every day before bed. My 2 year old could care less about the silly poems and Shel's wit, however.
I love it!
Flash forward several years later, while student teaching in a fourth grade classroom and teaching a unit on poetry, I introduced my class of 12 nine and ten year olds to this book. Most of them loved it! During independent reading time, the two Shel Silverstein books in the classroom were the first taken by students for the next couple of weeks.
Now, another few years later, I've purchased this for my soon-to-be-eight year old niece. I am so excited to gift this to her, and just know it is going to spark a love of poetry in her as well.

I bought it second hand and it said cover was in good condition.
Was a bit disappointed that the front cover (showing the picture) was not on the book.
However, the nice surprise was that the black hardback cover was signed by Shel Silverstein, so swings and roundabouts as they say :0)
Kids will love this and adults will love reading it to their kids and the illustrations are lovely
Think she will love it
