I watched this movie for the 4th time last night, about 20 years since I first watched it. I enjoyed it every bit as I did the first time. Bruce Willis is in his prime, and Matthew Perry has never been funnier since 'Friends', Natasha 'Species' Henstridge is stunning as a hitman's wife, Amanda Peet in one of her early starring roles is the perfect hitman's protege. The supporting cast is fantastic - Rosanna Arquette, Kevin Pollack, all made this one of the funniest film ever. One keeps getting surprised by the twists in the plot. You might want to watch a second time immediately. So many contracts for killing, but only the bad guys get killed - question is, who are the bad guys? The Bluray is the M18 version.
First off the dvd and case were dirty. Then imagine our surprise when we tried to play it, I stead of the movie starting this notion appeared "Region Error -- please eject the disc Playback is not authorized In your region"! What stupid company out of the US, sends movies here that we can't play?? The card I with the dvd was from Optimum Home Entertainment. From London. On the packaging it says Overstocks, from Stockport, SK. So where did it really come from? Who knows. Beware ordering from either on of these companys. I am VERY unhappy and a great deal disappointed. Why wout a company like Amazon even deal with these people?
Prime is great for a wealth of movie choices, some better than others. This one was recommended, so I decided to give it a go.
It's a openly funny, slapstick comedy movie. No, wait, action movie. No, wait, gangster movie. No, wait, romance movie. Or, perhaps, all of them wound into one.
I like Bruce Willis and Michael Clark Duncan, and never heard of this. It's aged fairly well, rich with twists and turns of the plot and characters, without needing to be taken too seriously. Good flick.
I seriously loved this one. Couldn't get enough of it while I watched it. Great acting, everything was well thought out, it was realistic despite it's absurdities (that all movies have), and it was just a straight up clean movie (had nudity, killing, etc... so I'm obviously talking about clean as in I was NOT left with any insecurities or annoyances). Had me actually laughing loudly at times and sometimes obnoxiously. I couldn't have been happier with this one. Bravo!
No, it’s not Shakespeare, but it doesn’t pretend to be. Much of it is implausible, often it’s hard to tell who is on whose side, but all the actors look good, speak well, and there are some really clever bits. We enjoyed it more than many films we have watched lately.

Introduction: From the beginning, we see a man in a terrible relationship who wants out but is dutifully standing by his wife. Everyone around him sees what he doesn't (or maybe what he has just accepted). Matthew Perry does a fabulous job, though this is often the character he plays in films and TV shows. He has the sarcastic, slightly-neurotic character down pat. If you enjoy that character, you'll enjoy his role here. Willis does a good job of playing a lovable hitman with some unusual morals, but who stands by them nonetheless.
Why did you choose this rating? This is a funny movie with some great one liners and good character chemistry. It is entertaining and definitely worth rewatching time and again. It's by far one of the best Matthew Perry movies out there. However, there is a lot of profanity and nudity in it (and I don't mean partial nudity.)
What did you like or dislike? I liked the story. There are so many plot twists you catch many of them the second and third times you watch it. The dialogue between the characters is sharp and witty, filled with sarcastic spats but also lines that make you laugh out loud. My favorite line is with Willis and Perry.
Willis: "Do you like living in Canada?"
Perry: "No. I live here with my wife."
I am not a fan of the nudity in the film. I felt it those parts could've been avoided or at least hinted at instead of fully shown. I understand their context within the movie, but I still think it could've been passed on for something better.
Who would you recommend this product to? This is for those who enjoy original comedies and aren't easily offended by sexual scenes and profanity. It's overall a very good comedy that deserves to be seen at least once, especially if you enjoy other Perry movies.
Summary: A good comedy for the price. It's not a revolutionary movie that redefined how we look at comedies or dialogue or story writing. It is a good mainstream comedy that is both entertaining and makes you think at times. If you want something mindless to watch and have never seen it before, it may not be the best thing because the twists can throw you off at times.
This is one of those movies that just never gets old. Everything comes together in this film to create a comedic "perfect storm". Each member of the cast is individually exceptional and as an ensemble they are mercilessly hilarious. Even though I've watched it so often that I know every gag that's coming, I still get a better workout from laughing through this movie than I do most days in the gym! There is scarcely a moment in the film that is not at least chuckle-worthy! Even the minor characters (mother-in-law, mob henchmen, Canadian cops, dental patients) are flawlessly played. Matthew Perry is absolutely brilliant, and Bruce Willis underplays his role in perfect counterpoint to Perry's over-the-top goofiness. Nothing is missing: there's suspense, action, plot-twists, surprises, sight-gags, slapstick, and glib repartee galore to give you sniggers, chuckles, guffaws, and outright belly-laughs throughout. By all rights this movie belongs among the all-time comedy classics.
4.0 out of 5 starsThe Whole Nine Yards To your FUNNY BONE.

I love this film and it is most definately Mathew Perrys funniest hour and a half.Hes a dentist who lives with the wife and mother in law from hell. The wife sets out to have him"hit"by employing a new to the job hit woman who just happens to have been recently employed by Perry as his assistant. In moves next door,Tommy the Tulip played by Bruce Willis a renoun hit man whos never been convicted, well, you have friendships building up here with arranged "hits"getting confused with friendships and priciples. It would be a shame to give away the looniesville of the movie, but I was in stitches with the Mathew Perrys put upon husband jokes and quips. The follow up is awful.Stick with this and remember it as a great laugh and dont spoil such a fun film by watching the follow up.Right Laugh this.
