Under rated 80's movie

To this day I can't understand why this movie was so disliked! I have seen so many screw-ball comedies that don't even come close to the humor here. I'm not saying it's sophisticated humor, but some times childish humor can be welcomed! It's just one those old USA "Up all Night" movies. It was the 80's so looks were really out there, and style of music was also different. The best intro "Causing a Commotion" with cartoon footage. The hilarious car scene with "Can't Stop", and the walk of shame song "Look of Love". Of course the final finally song "Who's that Girl" with Murray and his girl running after the bus! Not sure how well it would fear in this generation, but any child of the 80's should give this a second chance, or watch it for the first time! Just don't expect to think! Just laugh!

Desperately seeking Susan 2 trilogy ?
Verified purchase
I decided to buy this movie because it seems like more of Madonna in Manhattan or urban New York "extended" i think.I'd never seen this movie before or so I thought. When I started to read the reviews here I realized I'd seen at least part of this movie before on cable once in the 80's, Madonna got some guy arrested for shop lifting "just because she could" a reviewer wrote, I realized I'd seen this movie before or atleast that scene. I remember the scene Madonna is helping herself to some not so free cassette tapes or CDs she's "lifting" she plants a cassette tape on some poor unsuspecting schmuck so he can trip the metal detector while she walks a way Scott free with all those cassette tapes she forgot to pay for. While the guy she duped gets detained by security, that's classic Madonna so cool so suave ( unless your that poor schmuck) thats the only scene I remember from that movie, but I'll bet when I watch this movie it will be like dejuvu ,watch it again for the first time, but I brought this dvd mainly because its seems like desperately seeking Susan 2 in a way, more of madonna being Madonna.Charmed, she cuts you and Laughs while your bleeding thats madonna alright ,but she's far from evil.In fact to me.She seems like a fallen angel from the heaven's.

The brunettish one with the big funky (awesome) eyebrows & a real body a less polished sculpted femme fatale than future incarnations, but one who's rawness & youthful confidence is her charm a reviewer once wrote. How could I not buy this dvd. These are the only 2 movies I have of Madonna, desperately seeking Susan is some what of a master piece & my favorite. It's a master piece of urban art and imagination dreamed up probably overnight or over a cup of steaming cappuccino, born out of a day dream perhaps then slapped on a peice of canvas at a moments notice or the silver screen where it stuck and stuck pretty d... ! good,it stuck in the hearts of many Americans and made a huge impression on them for "good" or for the rest of their lives. Or was it just Madonna that made life a little more interesting & controversial ? The movie didn't make Madonna,Madonna made the movie great. She graced the silver screen and the movie with her magical presence (desperately seeking Susan) and made the movie more than it was,but not more than it could be, perhaps. Who is that girl ? did she just clip her wings and fall from the heavens one day in the 80's ? where does she come from ? ( I suppose I could go on bing and find out) but I love mystery's maybe that's what makes Madonna so "great." & mythical.I suppose arquette isn't the only one "Seeking Susan" or following her. I saw Madonna on a billboard recently & I thought that's not Madonna or at least how I remember her, then I thought what generation x's kids don't know won't hurt them, and a girl has to make a living C. Eastwood once said you either progress or decay in this business. Will the real Madonna please stand up,Reinvented reincarnated mythical timeless. immortal ? who's that girl ? that graced our lives & times with her angelic presence who's that girl ?........

Fun, entertaining screwball 80's comedy

This is a fun well-done silly screwball 80's comedy that stars Madonna. She gets called a bad actress often, but she's done some good work. Watching this 30 years later it's got a classic feeling to it. It's no longer as bad as it was once considered, but has been developed a bit of a cult following. Madonna hits her mark in this, her timing is on, she's got heart. The voice she chooses to use in this might initially feel like the wrong choice, but I quickly got used to it. Trying to picture her use her own voice for this and might not have worked. This is a fun no brainer, entertaining 80's flick. It's not Shakespeare, but if you need something lighthearted, this fits the bill.

Light-hearted movie that reminds me of growing up in the 80's. Watching Saturday morning cartoons in my Strawberry Shortcake PJs with my brother and nephew. Madonna played the part good I thought. It is a bit cheesy though, but it was the 80's. Me and daughter watched it together one morning. Pretty awesome when your 16 year old puts her phone down for a sec to laugh with you. 😆 nice.

Madonna has always been a favorire artist of mine. She has excelled in many areas of her life. Watching this is one of my most cherished childhood memories. My friends and I loved it. It was still awesome today. The quality and sound are good. I do not regret adding it to my collection.

The Material Girl Strikes It Rich

Some years ago I was at the renowned Movies Unlimited superstore, now a dollar store, standing behind a guy who purchased "Who's That Girl" for the retail price of $79.95 on VHS. I was intrigued why somebody would purchase at such an exhorbitant price a movie that was critically lambasted and had mixed commercial success. Did I rush out to rent the film? Nah, the first I saw it was yesterday at home with my wife. It's cheaper than seeing Madonna at her sold-out concert where tickets now are for a kings ransom. Is this a funny movie? For the most part, yes. Does Madonna in her third feature film have the acting mustard to carry the load of a starring vehicle? There's a few rough patches but the force of her personality compensates for any shortcomings. Will it make you forget "Bringing Up Baby"? Definitely not but this is an analogy made by the film's critics. The makers of the film have concocted a valentine to screwball comedies of yore and do not have the pretense to compare it with other films. I'll conclude by stating this probably isn't a five star movie but I liked it alot. It isn't the BOMB that Leonard Maltin's movie guide has assigned to it either.

Good movie to me

I grew up watching this movie because I used to love me some Madonna. This has some corny actors and some of the parts can be cheesy and corny but I thought it was funny and my 17 year old daughter loves to watch it too. I do not think it is for everyone but we enjoy it. I just love how Madonna does not care in this movie, she does what she needs to.

Madonna Funny But Sexy

I lke the film. I haven't seen it in a awhile. And now I have. No problem with this film. Comes with theatrical trailer. For 4 years Nikki Finn committed a crime that she did not commit. And she was framed by Raoul who hit her friend Johnny and stuffed him in the trunk of her car. And she must go back to Philadelphia but she refuses to go back until she clears her name.
