The Wild Ride

A rebellious punk of the beat generation spends his days as an amateur dirt track driver in between partying and troublemaking. Jack Nicholson's portrayal of Johnny Varron in The Wild Ride (inspired by Marlon Brando's The Wild One) came early in his career, with presence and power that would eventually make him a superstar. Dir. Roger Corman gave Nicholson his first major acting opportunities.

I missed the return window, we opened the video and tried watching it last night and it is NO good, played a couple minutes and then went back to start window. I looked at the DVD and there is a weird glare or mark on it and it is just no good. It's garbage. If you order a movie check it out before the return window closes.

Jack Nicholson playing a character well.

I like that the script was not pc and dealt with raw human emotion as simple as it may be.

Jack Nicholson is a staple of today's 'pop' culture. Today we see him at the Oscar's, being interviewed; like he has always been present. THE WILD RIDE is a step back BEFORE "EASY RIDER", the television westerns. I get the impression that his part in this film took very little effort to get into character. Car/hot rod buffs will enjoy what 1960's movie directors thought were the 'hot set-ups of the day. I would recommend this as an addition to round out your Nicholson collection, a early step in his development.

all B rated movies are hooky but I wanted it because it was an early Jack Nicholson movie and I'm a fan of his. I also love racing so to see the old Midget on the track was excellent!
