About Willow Mason
Willow Mason is the author of Witchy Paranormal Cozy Mysteries.
She lives in a small town in New Zealand, far too close to the beach and fantastic walking trails to get nearly as much work done as she should. Until someone bestows magic powers on her, she’ll just keep hoping for the invention of self-cleaning dishes and self-washing clothes.

I'm a fairy godmother, turned vampire, assigned to protect a detective sergeant determined to wipe out my entire nest.
That's the TL;DR version, anyway.
Born without wings, I was never considered suitable for the cushy assignments my compatriots scored from the high council. Instead, I mucked around on the low rungs of the ladder, taking piecemeal work that earned me a reputation as a Ms Fixit.
But when a dead police officer (don't ask) seeks my help to solve a murder, I find myself investigating a crime of paranormal proportions. A situation that's not improved when I wake one morning sprouting a set of long-desired wings—vampiric in nature.
Now the dead cop's partner wants us to team up and investigate the very bats who turned me. If I don't die in the hunt for justice, I might very well perish when he stakes my "bat-daddy."
I'm all for solving crime… just not at my expense. But if I don't help, who knows what the man will get up to on his lonesome? Better the devil you know than waking up one morning with a wooden splinter through the you-know-what.
Halloween, the day where the veil between the normal and the paranormal is as thin as a whisker on a witch's chin...
Twenty-three original cozy mysteries cook up tales of fun, mayhem, and murder!
With a sprinkle of seniors with sharp minds and smart mouths, a dash of witches with familiars and more sass than sense, and a pinch of whodunits in quaint little towns.
Once Upon a Halloween has your next favorite author. Who will it be?

I'm now an (almost) fully accredited PI, hunting a small-time politician's killer while the rest of the world thinks I murdered him.
Same old, same old.
As the small-time notoriety from my last endeavour fades from memory, I set my focus on expanding my investigation service. So, when a new client hires me to follow her husband and catch him "in flagrante," I'm on board.
Unfortunately, he soon turns up dead. Even worse, my fingerprints are on the murder weapon.
Of course, there's an innocent explanation, but getting the police to believe that is a Herculean task. With premature news reports painting me as public enemy number one, I'll have to work hard to solve his murder if I want to keep my business (and myself) alive.
A strange inheritance, a screaming ghost, and a backward aging cat. Welcome to Pixie-hood!
When I arrive in Oakleaf Glade to claim an inheritance, I imagine it'll run to a few hundred in a savings account. Instead, I receive an entire house!
I'd thank my lucky stars except for the experiences that come part and parcel with the arrangement. Things like my hair turning bright pink and trending skywards, or a kitten who I swear can understand me when I talk.
But when a ghost shrieks me awake at night, warning that if I stay I'll die just like my great aunt Esmerelda, I'm ready to put my boots on. Except my inheritance runs deeper than a title deed, it's lodged in my DNA. As the youngest daughter of a youngest daughter, I'm a Pixie, pink hair and all.
Luckily, I've made some fast friends in town already because I'll need all the help I can get!
A skeleton, fading powers, and an unexpected parental visit.
When my parents drop in for an unscheduled visit, a hastily prepared spare room reveals a dark secret. A skeleton is hidden inside the closet walls, and the dead body was a pixie!
With rapid-fire revelations coming from my mother and an invisible creature stalking the library, it's hard to grab a moment's peace. Add to that an enraged uncle—the same one who tried to cheat me out of my inheritance—and I'm halfway to wishing I'd never heard of Oakleaf Glade.
Worst of all, my pixie powers start disappearing, shunting me out of the supernatural world I so recently discovered. When the local librarian and my flatmate Brody both go missing, I must call on the help of all my friends and neighbours if we're to unravel the mystery of the long-dead skeleton and stand a chance against a powerful foe.
Ghostly rides, monster hunters, and a vampire who definitely isn't sexy.
A ghost train turns into a nightmare when a passenger is sucked into a mysterious vortex mid-ride. I soon stumble across his body, stabbed through the heart by a wooden stake.
Every supernatural in town is a suspect when it turns out the mysterious stranger is actually Blake Stone, Monster Hunter. His prey—any member of the paranormal community, fair or foul. With mounting fear his hunter buddies might soon arrive in town to avenge the death, we're all hard at work to solve the case.
However, my potential boyfriend Lucas is out for the count. He's developed a severe case of supernatural memory loss—an affliction that means our fledgling relationship might be over before it's started. Add in a mysterious vampire with a tea addiction and a group of pranking teenagers and it'll take a lot of pixie dust to untangle the clues and find the killer before they strike again.
Those ladies should learn to take a joke. In the meantime, though, it's left me in a bind. I need to get a real job, in a normal human occupation. Yuck.
But when I see a sign at the community centre asking for an assistant—only witches need apply—I feel like my fortunes might be trending up. Sure, there's a murder to solve, a killer on my tail, and a pittance in my bank account, but at least it's not working checkout in a supermarket.
And did I mention my new co-worker? Or "boss" as he likes to call it. He's a detective sergeant with years of specialised training under his belt.
Somewhere along the way he also hacked off some powerful people. At least, I think that's why they turned him into a dog.
Hm. Maybe the supermarket would be a better bet after all.
As an Owl Shifter forced to take refuge in the small mountain town of Beechdale, I've got enough trouble on my plate. But when my fellow barmaid is murdered, I feel compelled to investigate.
While police pursue my boss as the main suspect, I team up with a handsome journalist who's a few pies short of a picnic. Soon, we're uncovering secrets and eavesdropping on evidential conversations all over town.
With the help of wolf-friend Silvana and mouse-flatmate Dee, we sniff out a multitude of suspects. But until our rag-tag crew can narrow them down to a single killer, the true culprit is free to strike again.
I didn't expect my welcome home to include a mummified body!
After fleeing halfway down the country to get away from my boyfriend-turned-werewolf, I arrive back in my hometown of Briarton, ready to start anew. As a witch, albeit a weak example, it's a pleasure to reconnect with my mother's old coven. Unfortunately, the welcome home sours when we find a body in the woods behind my house.
With a newly appointed supreme keen to avoid the attention of the governing national coven, I volunteer to uncover the culprit behind the despicable crime. A decision made before my oversized familiar and a handsome paranormal investigator start to trample all over the crime scene.
As the case widens, and leads tangle, I must call on all the powers at my disposal to rid the coven of a threat worse than any sanction the national coven could apply. I mean, everything will probably work out okay… then again, pigs might fly.
It's a promise that's soon put to the test when a zombie shambles into the local bank just before closing. I'm not dead-phobic or anything, but trailing cemetery dirt all over the carpet isn't a great way to make friends.
When Glynda, our fear-inducing fearless coven leader hires me to investigate, I'm over the moon. Add to that, we have a real live blackmail case on our hands, and Beezley and I are close to hitting PI paydirt.
Soon, we're digging our noses into trouble all over town, and some of it comes back to haunt us. Luckily, I have a new black magic trainer to harness my mad skillz, if I can stop drooling long enough to concentrate.
With voodoo spells popping up all over town, I desperately need something to keep the local witches in check. Beezley might not appreciate his altered form, but I kinda wish I lived a dog's life right about now.
I'm a witch without a coven working for a detective sergeant turned into a dog.
After the coven excommunicates me, I need to find a new job. So when I see a sign asking for an assistant - only witches need apply - I feel my fortunes might be trending up. Sure, there's a murder to solve, a killer on my tail, and my new boss is a French Bulldog, but at least it's not working checkout in a supermarket.Beezley and I soon form a private investigation service to help with the weird and wonderful cases my small New Zealand town of Riverhead has to offer. Join us as we chase leads into danger and back out again, with the help of some black magic and an occasional chewy dog treat.

Pru's boyfriend just won't stay dead.
Every morning, like clockwork, he joins her at the breakfast table for a cup of tea and a chat about the job interview he has later that day. It's... nice. Comforting. Perhaps that's why she's let it continue for fifteen years.
But when her ghost companion wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, Pru calls upon me - Desdemona Milchtrap - to help her exorcise the suddenly malevolent spirit. I'm helped by my investigative partner Patrick and my ex-boyfriend Jared, though considering how those two are bickering, perhaps helped isn't the right word.
As old grievances and new poltergeists raise their ugly heads, I must ensure everyone buckles down and concentrates if we're to dispatch the new evil lurking in our community. The meddling ghosts will continue to run wild if I don't step up and Witch Like a Boss.
