Editorial Reviews

Review

“Valentine brings her characters alive, making them as real as members of your family. She has a fine talent, and if you haven’t sampled her novels, you’ve got to try On a Wing and a Prayer.” --Waterbury Republican

On a Wing and a Prayer will welcome you back home to Dorsetville with warmth and inspiration like a hug from an old friend. This small town comes to life, filled with the kind of characters we’d all love to have as neighbors . . . and a few more Dorsetville “miracles” that make for a spiritually uplifting reading experience . . . I can’t wait for my next trip to Dorsetville and Valentine’s next book!”
—Lisa Hendey, CatholicMom.com

On a Wing and a Prayer ignites a bond of spiritual friendship with the people nestled in this small New England community. The human heart immediately connects with the story that unfolds quickly on each page. A delightful read that mirrors being greeted by friends upon walking into a room.”
—Fr. Brian G. Bachand, Secretary to Archbishop Sean O' Malley of Boston

My friends call me just 'Kate'. I have been writing since I was a child and apparently was rather good at it since my 7th grade teacher accused me of plagiarizing a story that I had written for English class.

There is something magical that happens when I put a pen to paper to begin a new book. Although I have a semblance of where I wish the storyline to go, as soon as the characters take form, I become more an observer, reporting were I am led. When I was writing my first published novel, 'A Miracle for St. Cecilia's', George the plumber, just showed up one day and never left. My husband 'St. Paul' likes to tell the story of how when he come home from work I would often meet him at the front door shouting, "You won't believe what George did today!"

Perhaps I inherited my love of storytelling from my Irish ancestry. But however it came, I am especially fond of stories that revolve around small country towns. Having lived in several throughout my married life, I am always thrilled when someone begins a sentence with...."Let me tell you about the time...."
