Claire can't remember a time when writing wasn't part of her life. From the time she was a pre-teen, she wrote stories, most of them romances. She used to write stories with her friends, with each of them choosing a famous person or a character from their favorite TV series, and model the novels around that. One of her earliest stories, unfortunately lost to time, centered around the 1970s series Starsky and Hutch (she was partial to Starsky).
Although she read primarily fantasy and science fiction as a teenager, it didn't take long for Claire to discover Harlequin romances and their happily-ever-after endings. In a time when book covers would be ripped off the books for returns and then the actual books resold on the second-hand market, Claire devoured these coverless romances (and she regrets her role in the copyright violation), but always wanted to know what happened behind closed doors.
Fast forward and life, as life will, took precedence over creativity. She continued to write on and off, but it kept taking a back seat to other priorities such as paying the bills. When she started reading romances again, several years ago, Claire was delighted to find that the bedroom boundary first got broken, using euphemisms, and then romances went to their natural place of plain English and intense sexual situations. To her, anything goes within the boundaries of a loving relationship. She decided, if she enjoyed reading it, then she could take that natural next step and write it. And so a revived writing career was born.
Early literary influences include Anne McCaffrey, most notably her Dragonriders of Pern series, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Elizabeth Lowell. Current authors she admire include C.L. Wilson, Nalini Singh, and Marjorie Liu.
Claire has many irons in the fire, most notably her first foray into urban fantasy as well as a paranormal series and many contemporary romances. The books she has self-published are just the beginning of what she hopes will be a long and rewarding career that brings romance to people.
The first book in her paranormal series, called "Fire Danger" is now available on Amazon!
Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, Claire now lives in Los Angeles. In addition to writing she has an office job she loves, does animal rescue, reads and goes to movies. She loves to hear from fans, so feel free to drop her a line!
Angela Penrose lives in Seattle with her husband, five computers, and some unknown number of books, which occupy most of the house. She writes in several genres, but F&SF is her first love. She majored in history at college, but racked up hundreds of units taking whatever classes sounded interesting. This delayed graduation to a ridiculous degree, but (along with obsessive reading) gave her a broad store of weirdly diverse information that comes in wonderfully handy to a writer.
I write in a variety of genres when it comes to fiction. My short fiction ranges from mainstream to fantasy/science fiction and several things in between! My novels are mostly inspirational fiction, except for a fantasy series I'm working on with the talented Azure Avians.
In addition to my fiction writing, my column "Laura's Look" appears weekly in the News Sun (Highlands County). In it I talk about all kinds of things, from news of the day to my family.
Look around, check things out. Hopefully you'll find something you like!
Although Stephanie Barr is a slave to three children and a slew of cats, she actually leads a double life as a part time novelist and full time rocket scientist. People everywhere have learned to watch out for fear of becoming part of her stories. Beware! You might be next!
Jodi L. Milner is the author of the YA fantasy Shadow Barrier Trilogy as well as several short stories appearing in numerous anthologies.
In her community, she holds a leadership position in the League of Utah Writers and teaches at chapter meetings and conferences. She’s a world traveler, married a magician, studied Kenpo karate, and performed reptile shows several times a week while in college.
When not putting her characters in dire peril, Jodi can be folding the children and feeding the laundry, often in that order. She can also be found crocheting cute character sidekicks, tending her orchids, and reading – always reading.
Jodi is a firm believer that life is what you make it and she intends to make it a good one. She is an avid student of the interesting and obscure and has an unhealthy fascination with medical science. This path led to her working professionally in both human and animal medicine. These days she raises a pair of cranky chickens and is interested in taking up exotic animal rescue, much to her husband’s horror.
She makes her home in the mountains of Utah.
Melissa McShane is the author of the Extraordinaries series, beginning with BURNING BRIGHT, and the novels of Tremontane, SERVANT OF THE CROWN, RIDER OF THE CROWN, and AGENT OF THE CROWN. Her love of reading has been a constant in her life and she still remembers the places she lived by the books she was reading there: the Riddle-Master trilogy in New York, the Foundation series in Colorado, Howl's Moving Castle in Texas, Crown Duel in Utah. That love of reading stayed with her after she settled with her family in Utah and grew into a love of writing, first critical essays and reviews, then fiction. Her family includes her husband (a long-suffering man willing to let ideas bounce off him at speed), four children (also long-suffering and happy to live off macaroni and cheese while Mom writes) and three very needy cats, one of whom is so dumb he frequently runs into walls.
Jana has long been in love with reading and writing, entertaining folks with stories whenever the chance occurred. These days her writing happens in the mountain valleys of Utah, while taking care of a busy family and two fuzzy sidekicks. She writes the weird and the wonderful, with smoochies.

We're all familiar with "urban fantasy" -- the gritty, often violent intersection of the real world with creatures from our darkest imaginings. And as entertaining as urban fantasy can be both to read and to write, I thought it was time to throw something new into the mix.
So I've coined the term "suburban fantasy" for the stories I write -- stories that blur the boundaries between the real world and the fantastical, but are lighter and less edgy than their urban cousins. And, hopefully, a little more fun.
Whether it's the exploits of the teenage offspring of the Gods walking the halls of Olympus High, or Faerie Folk moving to the Real World and trying to cope with jobs, neighbors, and mortgages, I hope you enjoy the glimpse into the lighter side of life as I see it.

Deanna Baran lives in Texas and is a librarian and former museum curator. She writes in between cups of tea and trading postcards with people around the world.
Jonathon Mast lives in Kentucky with his wife and an insanity of children. (A group of children is called an insanity. Trust me.)

C.H. Hung grew up among the musty book stacks of public libraries, where she found a lifelong love for good stories and lost 20/20 vision for good. She possesses a stubbornly rational soul intersecting with an irrational belief in magic, which means her stories are often as mixed up as she is, melding the plausible with myth and folklore. To me, the book did not disappoint. There was not a single story I didn't like, although I did love some more than others. It was an easy read to boot. My favorite stories were by Jana S. Brown, Melissa McShane, and Anj Dockrey. I would highly recommend this book who wants to escape into a magical world filled with wonderful creatures.
Overall, there wasn't a stinker in the lot and even the "ok" ones were good, and the ones that were great were fantastic.
