Excellent true story, even dad loved it (and he hates all movies)

Perfect film for Father's Day which is why dad came to see it in the theaters. So glad I got a copy of it. It doesn't have the typical Hollywood smut, even in the scene when it starts to suggest some, the camera backs up and he's just doing pushups...lol I love that, so sick of the Hollywood agenda. WELL DONE! I hesitated to see it because I didn't want to feel terrible about heartbreaking childhood illnesses, but truly an uplifting movie mostly about the man who started the Wish Foundation. Great feel good movie!

Sometimes, you find your purpose by doing for others. That's the story of Frank Shankwitz, motorcycle cop and it turns out, human extraordinaire who founded Make A Wish. Frank has enough ghosts in his own past to occupy him, but circumstances including a young boy dying of leukemia and fascinated with police place him on a path of helping others.

Get ready for an emotional (motorcycle) ride

As with any good story, we get Frank's backstory in a series of flashbacks, which complete the story and tie back to the present in a neat package.

This isn't really the story of Make A Wish, but it IS the story of its origins and the story of the man who made that possible.

Every element of this movie works. The pace, the storytelling, the characters., the filming, the music. Get ready for an emotional ride. It's touching and heartbreaking and redeeming and beautiful. Have tissues at hand.

This is a true story and I know the main character and his wife. Wonderful people and Frank did a tremendous job starting Make A Wish and traveled the country dedicating his life to helping others start one.
Sorry to say my friend Frank passed away last year.
The movie was a dream he worked on with various people and the final project ended up with the Hollywood twist.
The true story is when it was how Frank a truly strong and dedicated Highway Patrol Motor officer got others involved to make Chris's wish come true.
Probably without Frank putting the pieces together Chris nor a lot of others would not have that happen.
Made him look like a half crazy drunk and that just wasn't the case.
Rest in peace my friend and academy classmate.

Truly a great film with a great story.

What a great film about such an amazing person. I truly enjoy these movies that show you how some of the largest most well known and in this case well-respected organizations on the planet came into existence - cause it is never how you would have pictured it to happen.

While this is a low budget indie film, the acting is solid, the story is strong and well tied together through a series of flashbacks that connects back the main timeline.

FYI - this is a movie about the founder of Make-a-Wish and how the organization came into existence, not about the organization itself. (I think the people who gave this movie a one-star missed the point).

Really wonderful and heartwarming true story of one man who has helped make an incredible difference in theives of others. The bonus of having Sargeant Catrer show up as he did was downright fabulous and just added to movie!

In my search for more on Make A Wish Foundation, I thought this might be a good start. I understand the need to provide background. I thought it started slow, got slower, and finally delivered. The delivery though was almost too late. You don't need a box of Kleenex for this. You'd be better off with a pot of coffee.
