Karen McQuestion is one of my favorite go-to authors. Her stories never disappoint to educate, entertain and uplift your spirits with inspirational characters who will warm your heart. Wish Upon A Christmas Star made me cry which most books cannot do. I loved the sense of community about the neighbors and the steadfast belief of the little girl that her wish would come true. She refused to let anything damper her belief that Santa would come through for her. I also loved and identified with her mother’s desire for her to keep a realistic approach to wishes. I loved the budding relationship between Gwen and Lucky and wished they would end up together. I usually don’t read Christmas based stories but I am so glad I read this one. It lifted my spirits when I was feeling down and gave all the warm fuzzies that you would expect from a Christmas story. I highly recommend Wish Upon A Christmas Star.
Wish Upon A Christmas Star is available in paperback and eBook.
To break the chain of despair, she took a walk to the town square. In the book store window she noticed a little girl hooking an origami star to the back of the store’s Christmas Wish Tree. It was the store’s tradition of giving out free books to children during the holiday.
When Gwen unhooked the star, she was surprised to read, “I wish for a washer and dryer for my mom for Christmas so she doesn’t have to go to the laundromat.” The star was supposed to contain a book wish, but Gwen decided she would find that little girl and make sure her self-less Christmas wish come true.
Thus begins Karen McQuestion’s novella, Wish Upon a Christmas Star.” To uncover the identity of the child, Gwen meets Lucky Gallagher, the owner of the local laundromat. Lucky knows almost everyone in town, but not familiar with the author of the Christmas wish. However, he offers his help to find the child and grant her thoughtful wish.
Wish Upon a Christmas Star is a wonderful Christmas story about love, hope, and Christmas magic. McQuestion writes a story filled with holiday warmth and hope. It’s a feel-good book that won’t disappoint.
Newly divorced and feeling alone isn't what Gwen expected for her holiday. Finally getting out of the house, she comes across a special wish left for Santa by a young girl. With encouragement from some new friends and neighbors, Gwen goes on the hunt for a child she doesn't know, so she can deliver some much needed Christmas cheer.
It is full of holiday warmth, hope and yes disappointment by imperfect people that are hoping that the magic of Christmas is real. It is a book about people, wonderful characters, working together to help others to find joy in Christmas magic and the star that always leads us home. Thank you for this wonderfully perfect holiday story.
