Light & fun, but too many British-isms

The story takes place in the US, but the author uses words, spellings, phrases, expressions, and verb tenses that are typical of British or Australian ways of speech, and it's very distracting.

I love things British/Australian, but when a story takes place in that setting, it makes sense. This series takes place in the US, a '30 minute flight from LA,' making all the 'British-isms' incredibly jarring and frequently pulls the reader out of the story.

There have been a number of spelling mistakes as well - "your" instead of "you're," "wondered" instead of "wandered," "shoe in" instead of "shoo-in," etc. These are things that should have been caught in the editing process, before printing or publishing.

I'll continue with the series, as there are a number of story threads I'm curious to find the answers to. It's just not fun reading something that I'd assume has been through thorough edits only to find a number of rookie errors along the way.

Chelsea Is Pulled Into Mystery and Murders

Chelsea is worried about her boyfriend after he saw her perform magic. He left to get away from it and is not returning her calls. Chelsea has other concerns when a person is murdered at the art exhibit is murdered and she has to help Adam get out of his mess. Chelsea is dragged in the murder when the deputies ask for her help. Chelsea decides to try to help with the murders. She also go to where Adam is being held and sees he is not himself.
Chelsea is trying figure out what is going on with Adam, if she can find Deacon so they can talk, find out who committed the crimes. When Chelsea is there for another death and someone comes after her. Chelsea will have to put the clues together. On top of all that, she is worried about her mother coming for a visit, and the bomb she drops.

This was a great read, I really enjoyed it. You are introduced to new characters and Chelsea finds out a connection to one of them. I am looking forward to the next book.

Our heroine is having enough problems on her own and really doesn't need a dead body showing up at the art show. But then no one asked her what she needed.

This is book four in the series, but it works fine as a standalone. All the essentials are explained straight away.

This is cozy witch mystery story. The story is well written and full of a wry sense of humor that really appeals to me. The characters are well developed and fun, with new quirky bits coming out in each story. I admit I am not a cat person, but I have grown fond of the sassy talking one here. The plot is well paced and includes several twists and turns that kept things interesting and unpredictable. Overall, I found this story to be highly enjoyable and continue to look forward to reading more in the series.

Highly recommended.

Chelsea is a witch, but new to it, as her mother did not want her to know about witchcraft. She found out when she moved to a small island full of paranormal beings. Her talent is to solve crimes and this is what she does in this series. In this book, we have a murder of a prominent artist with one object of art missing and Chelsea's gardener, a shifter named Adam was held by a local werewolf clan for theft of a valuable chalice. And as if that would not be enough, her familiar and her houseguest Selina have a magical disease that makes their magic uncontrollable and her boyfriend Deacon - a human - just found out about magic.
A rich blend of craziness, with lots of comical scenes and cringeworthy episodes. A blend, that makes it difficult to put the book down.

And entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Chelsea move back to an island off the West Coast of America where she was born. Her mother took her and left the island when she was a baby and never looked back. A family member passed away and left some thing in her will to Chelsea. She is soon to find out that she has a Big old house an inherited gardener and a cat that talks. She also finds out that she is actually a witch. After meeting some of her extended family life begins on the island. She has a knack for solving mysteries which comes in handy when she keeps finding bodies everywhere. Follow long as she sells murder mysteries and other crimes in an entertaining and sometimes haphazard way.

What Else Can Go Wrong

Chelsea is a witch on Pendle Island, where there are more paranormal things than normal. An artist is found dead and her gardner has been implicated and arrested, so she is on the prowl for the truth of what happened. Her talking cat is sick, her guest is wacky, her mother is coming to visit, and so much more. She handles everything with her sass and banter and helps the police when they ask for help. The twists and turns in this mystery will keep you guessing and you will be wrong. The ending is terrific and well planned out.
