Great Information - Take out the small MLM section

While I thought this book had great information that I will be able to put to use right away, I gave it one less star due to the unfortunate talk of a well known MLM. That small section soured me a little on the book in general, since I believe that business model does little to empower women (unless you are the founder) and is a little irresponsible from a professional. Just a little research on their Income Disclosure is rather enlightening (and where I encourage everyone interested in getting involved with an MLM to start their research).....My suggestion to the author is to take that section out in newer editions. If it wasn't in there, I would have given 5 stars.

This book should be required reading for Business Schools everywhere. As a long-time educator at a university, I have taught and taken many classes ranging from economics to women's studies. The texts are dry, the research out-of-date, and they are written from a "neutral" male perspective. None of this is appealing or all that helpful to a female entrepreneur.

Lavine's work brings solid business practices together with current trends that you would find in Harvard Business Review, but even better, she integrates the human element of business - joy, hope, love - along with a good dose of spirit and magic. Her female perspective is refreshing, and her deep commitment to her clients comes through in her pages with case studies and examples of past clients who are walking the path readers hope to take.

As an emerging woman entrepreneur, I have surveyed the landscape of books, online trainings (including Marie Forleo's B-School, which I also highly recommend), and workshops. If you are looking for an affordable and incredible resource to either get started or up-level your current business, this is the place to start AND finish. I first purchased the Kindle edition of the book and just bought the hard copy because I want to have this resource on my bookshelf to grab whenever I need guidance or inspiration.

I have not finished the book yet, hence 4 stars, as I am actually contemplating my way through it and love it so far. The only thing I can say is: Where was this book 20 years ago ☺ I highly recommend it. I do notice the "get a mentor" part through the book as an encouragement to take her program, and I might just do that after finishing the book. I mention this because I did read a few reviews beforehand mentioning it. The honest truth is that I think that is just an absolute normal business practice today. Reading about their ideology gives us a chance to get to know them. Sage does not hold back her good advice in the book, leading me to believe her book is more than a carrot to buy into her program like so many others. I have read books where you are still waiting for the promise after you read the last page. While Sage's Woman Rocking Business is "feeding me" along my reading and contemplation route.

This video training CHANGED MY LIFE. So I had to have the book and ordered it immeditaly. And Sage again exceeded my expectations. The world NEEDED this book! Sage knows how to motivate, she's empathic and knows how to turn around the viewpoint we have on business. The book is practical, it offers step-by-step guidings, thus you get into DOING it and, at the same time, inspires and lifts the energy up.
