Can two broken souls fix a world that’s been shattered?
Clark and Adelaide think their lives can’t get any worse. Until they meet each other.
Adelaide — heiress to the wealthiest man in the Ceithren Empire — has felt a void since her sister’s death. Just as she’s resigned herself to the empty life her father chose for her, a relic from a world that shouldn’t exist plunges her into chaos.
Clark — son of the greatest terrorist the empire has ever known — is still reeling from his father’s death. Since then, his life has boiled down to two things: his brothers and his next mission. When his mission to bring back a mystical artifact goes awry, he’s forced to choose between getting the job done and saving the life of a spoiled socialite.
But Clark isn’t the only one after the artifact. He and Adelaide must work together to survive… if only they can manage to avoid killing each other before their enemies have the chance.
The World Apart Series will make you question everything you thought you knew about life, humanity, and the choices we make for the people we love.

Review
"With breath-taking world building and characters that immediately stole my heart, I cannot recommend The World Apart series enough! It was an immediate new favorite and is one I will visit time and time again!" - Author Cait Marie
I loved it all. I cannot wait to read more of this series...the relationship that builds between Addie and Clark is a slow burn and believable in its progression. The banter between Clark and his brothers is as endearing to Addie as it is to me. If you are a fan of YA fantasy, I highly recommend it. - Lillian McCurry, Blogger for Young Adult Books Central

The name Robin D. Mahle represents a dynamic husband and wife storytelling team. They’ve travelled the world for both love and war, and a tale began to form between the two of them that just had to be told. One’s love of anime and comics collided with the other’s love of young adult fiction, and together, they made a book baby. (And also a couple of human ones).
These days, they spend their time homeschooling their munchkins between intense family dragon battles and the occasional chaotic road trip.

The pacing of the romance was complex an refreshing. Usually, a writer has to make the romance “slow burn” or focus on a different character’s romance when one relationship is settled. This book did some of that. There are three brothers, after all, but the main relationship was always Clark and Addie, who were more complicated than slow burn. Clark being remarkable inept at pursuing a woman he likes was fun dialogue. Again, a fun read.
I love Mahle's balance of character development and plot as well as how each character really comes into their own through the course of this series and not just the main few characters.
Addie is the perfect blend of sheltered and strong, and Clark's rough and stoic ways perfectly compliment her. Gunther is, of course, absolutely adorable and perfect as is BeLa. Xavier, the Director, and the General are all wonderful side characters with nuanced motivations and development as well. And then my absolute favorite, Penn (or PeNelope). Her development, though she didn't play a huge part through much of the books, was stunning.
If you're a fan of YA fantasy/steampunk fantasy, I highly recommend picking up this series (and why not when the whole box set is so cheap?) and adding it to your TBR pile.
I've laughed and cried, been frustrated and excited, not to mention all the swoon-worthy moments scattered throughout the entire action-packed slow-burn romantic adventure series. I loved having the character backgrounds from the prequel. Each book within the series built upon the last to culminate into a wonderful series that I'd gladly read/listen to over and over.
Great World Building...Strong Character Development and Growth
Betrayal...Kidnapping...Freedom...Liveliness...Bantering Brothers...Deceit...Lies...Weakness...

"Sometimes, the things that didn't kill you didn't make you stronger. Sometimes, they just left you broken and damaged for eternity."
"It's okay to not be okay."
"Live for me."
If you like upper YA (not quite NA) Fantasy then this series is the one you need to read!
