5.0 out of 5 stars Good read but one negative

Choose Your Own Adventure series fan? These follow the same pattern but with true historical events woven into the storyline and choices. Love this idea and will surely bring a love of history to many young readers (albeit middle-school aged, due to content about war). My only complaint is that for this book, as well as the WWI book, when you choose to fight for the Americans, both times you are enlisting while in college, and you have to choose to leave school and fight or stay enrolled in school. How about those who had to make a very different choice, such as enlist and leave their families? I have researched a ton of WWI & WWII enlistment records (mainly for genealogical purposes), and I can’t remember a single one that was for a college student. I really wish the author had chosen to represent the common “boy” here. Those who were farmers, those who worked in industry. Not everyone went to college in 1917 or 1942, when draft cards were completed, nothing like it is today. Not a deal breaker, just not at all my family’s (or any others from my place of origin) experience at all.
