If I say anything I will be dropping spoilers all over the place. The gestalt of all the stories is where the entertainment lies. The nay sayers seem to focus on the microcosm and nit pick it. It is the macrocosm that gives this series a three dimensional feel and leaves you guessing which way Jerry is going with it. That is what hooked me. I feel like I should be attending one of those meetings, "Hi, I'm Larry and I'm addicted to Bob & Nikki:-). I look forward to my next fix.
Add to that, about the first tenth of the recent books is an unnecessary recounting of characters, animals, ships and the like that is an annoying obstacle on the way to the story.
2. I dont mind the folksy repertoire, but when a character makes a statement and there is a one or two page restatement by the other party beginning with "You mean you are saying..." or "You mean to say I..." it is beginning to feel like a space filling exercise.
I'll stick with them for a while longer and hope Jerry returns to the pace and flavour of the early books.
Finally, he got it sorted! Dialogue is relaxed and natural, for the most part. Much more enjoyable to read, without all of the cringing.
I have to leave one criticism, or I'd feel like I was cheating him .
I'm not sure using "Boss" as a title was a wise choice...it starts reading like a 1930s gangster movie script.
But that's minor and just my little opinion.
Great Job, Jerry. Loved it!
