Gemma unlike your customary woman, uncovering her husband’s infidelity. She did not cry, scream, or throw objects across, the room when she learned the truth. The first sign of his indiscretions, she resorts, to herself making list, to feel in control. With dread and satisfaction, she checks things off her list. One, a perfume that is not hers on his shirt. Two, text messages slipping through the husband’s technology onto the shared computer, but missing from his phone. And three, I feel Carlo either didn't care if he was caught or wanted to be caught. There was a hotel room booked on a card she wasn't supposed to know about except somehow, it was sent to their home address.
It was all the individual betrayals, that sliced her. Mail in the teal mailbox, they painted together. His eyes never wandered while, in her presence. So, to make sure she had all the evidence for herself, she followed him. There it was, his arms were around her, and his lips were touching her, the way he was with mine. Her plan was ready. She had checked off everything that she needed to make this is an amicable divorce. Including buying a condo, dividing assets, who she told, how families would hear, who got what, and all that was left both signatures on the divorce papers.
She struggles for so long, to speak that he goes first. Her need for control once again leads her astray. This delay is a death sentence for sure. Blurting out that, he has cancer. The type that is, rapid and he will not, live long. Yup. A death sentence for her. Caring for this for lying cheating, low-life, backstabbing, SOB. I so would have gone and at least told him you knew at the end. Then, I would have told his family. Stopping the pretending. Why didn't he get his mistress to care for him? Because he was selfish. Did he know already that he had cancer and the fling was his last hurrah? Either way, it was mean.
The thing is Gemma got off on being the victim. And that got to be a pain in my a$$. Zach is so loving and caring, all she did is continuously take, and expect things emotionally, from this man. She’s so imprisoned in her head and feelings, Gemma has no empathy for those around her. She puts Zach through the wringer for the sins of her ex. Yet, Zach has no idea because she won’t share. The only thing that saves my view of this book is the 360 Gemma does thanks to Belle her best friend who pushes her outside her comfort zone.

I am not sure if I have been living under a rock or what because why am I now reading Kandi Steiner books?How could I have not known about her before? Omg I have been missing out big time! This was an awesome book!Gemma has been through so much and has had to deal with it mostly on her own. Because of what she went through with her ex she is determined not to fall again and to just have fun.She has season tickets to her favorite football teams games. And drags her bestie to the game.But her bestie has something else in mind for her. Since said bestie does not like going to football games so what better way to get Gemma dating again and get out of watching football?That's right set her up on a dating app so she can take her date to the football games.Enter in the nosey bartender Zach, who is listening to the women's conversation. He inserts himself into their conversation and ends up being Gemma's first trial date.Gemma and Zach hit it off immediately, but that’s all that Gemma is willing to risk so she looks for other dates for the other games.But Zach doesn't give up so easily. And he's definitely no ready to give up on Gemma. He wants her and is determined to see where things go. Gemma really likes Zach too but this is what scares her, she's been there and done that.Zach finally breaks through her walls and gets her to take a chance with him.This book was awesome! I enjoyed both characters and I love Gemma's bestie Belle (can't wait to read her story)Even though my TBR list was piling up and I had plans of reading something else, I put that all on pause and read this. And let me say I was not disappointed!I also loved that Gemma was a girly girl but she also really enjoyed football. And Zach also really enjoyed it. They had so much in common and the chemistry was off the charts.I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one about Belle!
