5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready for Marvel's Infernal Event with the Exciting Prologue
By S. H. Wells on December 19, 2014
Collecting: X-Factor (1986) #27-32, Annual #3
Uncanny X-Men (1981) #228-238
New Mutants (1983) #62-70, Annual #4
X-Men Annual (1970) #12

Excerpts from: Marvel Age Annual #4 & Marvel Fanfare (1982) #40

Bonus Materials: "The Mutant Report" from Marvel Age #62 & 69
13 pages of covers and artwork

This gorgeous collection follows the epic events of [[ASIN:0785153128 X-Men: The Fall of the Mutants]] and precedes one of the best Marvel events of all time: the monumental [[ASIN:0785137777 X-Men: Inferno]] . Readers familiar with Inferno will notice the wheels set in motion in these issues. Magik's Darkchilde form grows in strength. Madelyne Pryor is making an alliance with Limbo's demons. For fans of the Inferno event, the first steps towards Hell on earth are worth reading. However, the Inferno plot is often in the back ground to the X-Teams more immediate concerns.

The X-Men fight the Reavers and settle into their clandestine life in the Australian Outback, and then are nearly wiped out by super powered Brood aliens. The New Mutants --in some of the most touching issues collected here-- deal with Cypher's death (you would have to be stone cold not to feel for Warlock) and find themselves in outer space confronting a wicked spider alien.

The artwork is some of the most iconic in X-Men history. I thoroughly enjoyed the glossy pages. In fact, the artwork "pops" in the new graphic novel format better than it ever did in the comic books.
